LATHAM, N.Y. - The 2025 United East Women’s Volleyball Championship got underway on Wednesday evening with a pair of Opening Round matchups. No. 7 Penn State Abington took down No. 10 Penn College in straight sets while No. 8 Cedar Crest College used all five sets to defeat No. 9 Penn State Berks.
The quarterfinal round will commence on Saturday. Find the matchups below:

No. 7 Penn State Abington def. No. 10 Penn College, 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-21) | (BOX SCORE)
It was the play at the service line which gave Abington the edge, amassing 20 service aces in the straight-set victory. Six players registered an ace including a team-high seven from Ellie Van Otten. Brynn Atkins and Zayna Jamaladdin pitched in as well, acing the Wildcats five and four times, respectively. Jamaladdin was the team leader in kills with eight while Ryenn Mamrosch’s 16 assists led all players on the court.
First year player, Lilly Stockum, was a bright spot for the Wildcats as her 14 kills led all players.

This one needed all five sets as the set lead switched three times throughout the match. Ellise Everett was a monster from the middle for the Falcons, collecting 28 kills while hitting .338. She’d add 22 digs for a double-double. Tianlly Davila was the main distributor for Cedar Crest, racking up 43 helpers on the evening. Defensively, Phoebe Pietila manned the back row with 33 digs while Jasmine Beck’s five solo blocks cleaned up things at the net.
Madelyn Caris did a lot of the damage on the Berks side of things, totaling a team-high 16 kills while adding 22 digs. Libby Swoyer had a solid day from the setter position, totaling 38 assists.
