United East Athletes of the Week - February 3, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for February 3, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Basketball as well as Men’s Volleyball. 

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, January 27 through Sunday, February 2, 2025. A total of 6 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Zhymani Smith/ SR / Bryn Athyn College / Hampton, Va. / Menchville

    Smith led the Lions to a 2-0 week and helped the Lions clinch a coveted playoff berth in United East postseason play. Smith did it in dominating fashion averaging 28 points, 8 boards, 5.5 assists, and 3 steals per contest. Her best game came against crosstown rival Cairn when she racked up 30 points, 9 boards, 6 assists, and 2 steals. 

    This is the second Player of the Week award for Smith this season, earning Offensive Player of the Week honors on December 23 as well.

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Kiera Mason / FY / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Brandywine, Md. / Gwynn Park

    Keira Mason started the week with her eighth double-double of the season as Mason put up a game-best 16 points and a Seahawk-best 11 rebounds (five defensive) in a 54-51 victory over Notre Dame (Md.). She also added a team-high four steals, one assist, and one block. Mason then contributed nine boards (seven defensive), seven points, a game-best four steals, a game-high two blocks, and two assists in an 83-47 win over Wilson. For the week, she finished with 23 points, 20 caroms, eight steals, three blocks, and three assists while shooting 47.1-percent (8-17) from the field. 

    This is the third Player of the Week award for Mason. She was named the Defensive Player of the Week on January 20 and the Offensive Player of the Week on January 17.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Isaiah Eggleston / SR / Penn State Harrisburg / Roanoke, Va. / Carlisle School

    Isaiah Eggleston hit a major career milestone and led Penn State Harrisburg to a pair of convincing conference victories last week. In a win over Gallaudet on Tuesday night, the senior shot 60 percent from the field, scored 14 points and surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career. He also grabbed six rebounds and blocked five shots. The forward followed it up by posting a double-double, scoring a career-high 32 points, pulling down 11 boards and adding three blocks in a victory over Penn College on Saturday afternoon. For the week, he averaged 23 points per game on 54.3 percent shooting, 8.5 rebounds and four blocks per game. 

    This is the third Player of the Week award for Eggleston this season He was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week on January 13, 2025 and December 16, 2024.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Connor Storr / SO / Lancaster Bible College / Galloway N.J. / The Pilgrim Academy

    Storr has been a vital piece in the Chargers latest run especially on the defensive end as Storr ranks 3rd in the conference for steals per game (2.1) and 7th for blocks per game (1.0). Storr is the only player to be in both of the top ten listings. This week, Storr and the Chargers went 2-0 with wins at Penn St. Brandywine and Rosemont. Keeping both teams under the 60-point mark, Storr averaged 10.5 points per game, five rebounds per game, 4 steals per game, and 2.5 blocks per game. In the win at Rosemont on Saturday Storr filled the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds, six steals, five assists, and three blocks. 

    This is the First Player of the Week award for Storr this season and his second in his career (February 5, 2024).

     

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Trey Edmonds / SO / Neumann University / Mechanicsburg, Pa. /Cumberland Valley

    Trey Edmonds opened the season with 33 kills in two matches as Neumann opened 2-0. In a 3-2 win over Hood, the sophomore tallied 22 kills while adding 10 digs. Edmonds followed with 11 kills and a .471 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Bryn Athyn.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Edmonds and the first United East weekly honor for the Neumann men's volleyball program.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Jordan Yoder / SO / Lancaster Bible College / Winfield, Pa. / Homeschool

    Yoder helped the Chargers to a 1-1 week including a 3-2 win over Elizabethtown on Wednesday and a 3-0 loss to number one ranked Southern Virginia on Saturday. Yoder contributed everywhere as he averaged 9.5 kills, three blocks, and 10 digs over the two games. In the win over Elizabethtown, Yoder had a team high 13 kills, three blocks, and 15 digs. On Saturday Yoder also added a team high six kills and three blocks. 

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Yoder this season and his second in his career (2/26/24)
