United East Athletes of the Week - April 7, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for April 7, 2025.  Today will include Players of the Week for men’s and women's lacrosse, men’s volleyball, baseball and softball.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, April 1 through Sunday, April 6, 2025. A total of 10 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Carsyn Smith / JR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Crownsville, Md. / Old Mill

    Carsyn Smith led the defense with career-highs of six draw controls and five ground balls in the team's 26-0 road win over Notre Dame (Md.). Smith then collected two caused turnovers, two draw controls and one ground ball in SMCM's tough 18-11 loss to No. 7 Salisbury.

    This is the second Defensive Player of the Week in Smith's career (3/24/25).

     

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Colin Horton / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland  / University Park, Md. / Elizabeth Seton

    Colin Horton contributed a game-high four goals and an assist plus four draw controls in a 26-0 road win over Notre Dame (Md.) before leading the Seahawks with five points (4g, 1a), a season-best five draw controls and a career-high two caused turnovers in a tough 18-11 loss to No. 7 Salisbury.

    This is Horton's second Player of the Week award this season and fifth of her career (2/24/25  |  3/14/22  |  3/6/23  |  03/04/24)

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Jackson Wolfe / FR / Wilson College / Abbottstown, Pa. / New Oxford

    Wolfe was quite busy on the defensive end in Tuesday's win at Gallaudet. On the receiving end he picked up a team-high 17 digs, while up front he was able to reject four Bison attempts.

    This is the second career Defensive Player of the Week award for Wolfe and his third overall weekly accolade (3/24/25 | 2/10/25)

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Dawson Forney / SR / Lancaster Bible College / Lititz, Pa. / Warwick

    Forney and the Chargers finished out the regular season with a 21-7 overall record and a perfect 8-0 record in the United East. With two wins over Valley Forge and Gallaudet, the Chargers didn't lose a set in conference play. Forney racked up 18 total kills with six digs, three blocks, and a .459 hitting percentage. 

    This is the fourth career Player of the Week award for Forney (1/22/24 | 03/04/24 | 01/20/25)

  • Player of the Week

    Jake Fallers / SR / Penn State Abington / Wilmington, Del. / Archmere Academy

    In a 4-0 week for the Nittany Lions, Fallers went 5-for-10 (.500) at the plate with four of his five hits going for extra-base hits, including two doubles and two home runs.  He scored 10 times on the week and had four RBI.  Fallers reached base in each game as he totaled seven walks on the week, including three in each game of the doubleheader against Valley Forge.  In the win at Cairn, Fallers went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, including a home run.  He followed that up with another home run in game one against Valley Forge for his second in as many games and his team-leading seventh homer of the year. 

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Fallers of his career.

    Pitcher of the Week

    Ryder Chalk / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Sykesville, Md. / South Carroll

    Ryder Chalk threw 8.0 innings with three strikeouts and four walks while scattering four hits to notch the 6-0 win over Cairn (Game 1).

    This is the first Pitcher of the Week award for Chalk of his career.

  • Player of the Week

    Phoebe Clemens / GR / Lancaster Bible College / Honey Brook, Pa. / Homeschool

    Clemens and the Chargers moved to 11-10 overall and 1-2 in the week with a 10-3 win over Cedar Crest. Clemens went 5-8 from the plate with one double and three triples. She tallied six runs batted in, four runs, two walks, and two stolen bases. Clemens is batting .471 thus far with 33 hits and 23 runs batted in. 

    This is Clemens' first Player of the Week award this season and the fifth of her career (03/13/23 | 03/27/23 | 03/25/24 | 04/22/24)

    Pitcher of the Week

    Paige Brightwell / SO / Penn State Berks / Pittstown, N..J. / Delaware Valley

    Brightwell was dominant in the Lions wins over Albright and Penn State Abington. She opened the week by throwing a three-hit shutout victory over Albright College where she struck out four. Brightwell then shined in Berks win over Penn St. Abington, pitching a one-hit shutout where she struck out 12 Abington batters. She then came back in the circle to close out game two, securing the victory. 

    This is the first Pitcher of the Week award for Brightwell this season and her third in her career (03/25/24 | 04/15/24)

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Elliot Dotson / FR / Penn College / Wilmington, Del. / Salesanium

    Dotson led the Wildcats with nine points on a season-high five goals and four assists in a conference victory against Rosemont on Saturday. The Wildcats' leading point-scorer earned a first-half hat-trick with his third goal coming at the 13:54 mark in the second quarter. Dotson registered his fourth hat-trick of the season and ranks fifth in the conference with 24 goals and 2.00 goals per game while his 2.83 assists per game is the best in the conference. 

    This is the third Player of the Week award for Dotson of his career (02/24/25 | 03/10/25).

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Nathan Howe / SO / Rosemont College / Wilmington, Del. / Delcastle Tech

    Nathan led the Rosemont defense this week with his established presence deferred attackers. Statistically he created six turnovers in two game and four in Rosemont's first win versus Delaware Valley in Program history where the defense set the pace for Rosemont. 

    This is Howe's first Player of the Week award of his career.
