Seahawks Bow Out of NCAA Men's Lax Championship

SALISBURY, Md. - The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s lacrosse team bowed out of the NCAA Championship Saturday afternoon as they fell to No. 2 Salisbury University, 17-5. With the loss, the United East Champs conclude their season with a record of 10-8.

The Gulls got on the board first but St. Mary’s answered with a pair of scores including a Keegan Preis goal on the man-up, taking the early lead. The home squad scored four more before the period’s end and held a 5-2 lead going into the second quarter. The second stanza started like the first with Salisbury scoring one and the Seahawks answering with two of their own. The Gulls offense then tucked away three more with St. Mary’s able to sneak one in right before halftime to cut the lead to 9-5. That would be the last score though as St. Mary’s COllege was unable to find the back of the net in the second half.

Five different Seahawks scored but Aiden Doyle led the squad with two points as he picked up an assist as well. Defensively, Joe Murray was able to cause a team-high three turnovers and scoop four groundballs but it wasn’t enough to stop the Gulls.
