LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its 2025 Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners. The two All-Conference teams are each made up of three attack, three midfielders, three defenders, one short stick midfielder, one long stick midfielder, one face off specialist and one goalkeeper The conference also awarded its Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and its Coach of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
Major Award Winners
Offensive Player of the Year - Elliot Dotson (Penn College)
Defensive Player of the Year - Joe Szymanski (St. Mary's College of Maryland)
Rookie of the Year - Elliot Dotson (Penn College)
Coach of the Year - Jack Crawford (Bryn Athyn College)
Elliot Dotson may have been in his rookie year but his play certainly looked like a veteran student-athletes. Collecting both Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year honors, Dotson helped to continue to build on a Wildcat program that has steadily risen in its short time of existence. This season, the Wilmington, Del. native averaged 5.00 points-per-game which ranked second in the conference and 33rd in all of Division III. His assists-per-game were what really stood up as his average of 2.74 ranked 22nd in the nation. The first year attackman had at least one point in every single game this season with perhaps his top performance coming in a win over Guilford College in which he racked up five goals and assisted on four others. This season, he was tabbed the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week three times.
Joe Szymanski was a defensive anchor for the Seahawks, helping the team earn its fourth-straight conference title. Szymanski averaged 1.63 caused turnovers per game, playing an extremely difficult non-conference schedule. He’d not only cause the turnovers but also helped generate the breakout as his 4.31 groundballs per game only sat behind his faceoff specialist for most on the team. His efforts helped the Seahawks in only allowing nine total goals against United East opponents this season. One of his top outings came against national powerhouse Salisbury University in which he caused a pair of turnovers and scooped six ground balls. This year, he was tabbed the Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on March 9, 2025.
In a year with unprecedented circumstances, Coach Jack Crawford led his Bryn Athyn squad to 3-7-1 record. Crawford worked hard to make his special teams defense one its staples as they ranked fourth in the country with a success rate of 86.2%. At the seasons end, Crawford guided three players to All-Conference honors.
