LATHAM, N.Y. - St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Director of Athletics and Recreation, Crystal Gibson, has been named the new Vice Chair for the NCAA Division III Management Council. She will begin the role starting in January 2026.

The Management Council reports directly to the Presidents Council and handles the implementation of policies adopted by the Association’s Board of Governors and Division III Presidents Council.  The Management Council may sponsor legislative proposals; make interpretations of Division III’s bylaws; and may also handle resolution of Division III issues and recommendations from other committees and working groups throughout the Division’s substructure.

“Stepping into the role of Vice Chair of the NCAA Management Council is both an honor and a responsibility,” remarked Gibson. “I’m excited to help lead conversations and decisions that will positively shape the future of Division III, always keeping the well-being and growth of our student-athletes at the center.”

Gibson has been serving in her role at St. Mary’s College since July of 2020. In addition to that, she was also voted onto the board for the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) at the 2022 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Convention in Las Vegas. She joined the NADIIIAA presidential rotation in July 2024 with her appointment as the 3rd Vice President for the 2024-25 membership year. She will assume the role of NADIIIAA president for the 2027-28 membership year.
