United East Athletes of the Week - January 19, 2026

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for January 19, 2026.  Today will include Players of the Week from Men's and Women's Basketball and also marks the first weekly accolades in the sport of Men's Volleyball

This week’s selections included contests through Sunday, January 18.  A total of six student-athletes from four different member institutions were recognized for their performances.

 
Men’s Volleyball

Offensive Player of the Week
Kevin Bryant / JR / Lancaster Bible College / York, Pa. / York Suburban

Bryant was the offensive threat provided by the Chargers as the team opened its season with a 1-1 record. The junior collected 16 kills across the two contests, including 11 in the win over Marymount who is receiving votes in the national poll. Bryant was effecient, hitting a rate of .324 across the eight sets played. He'd also add in nine total blocks and a service ace.

This is Bryant's first ever Player of the Week nod.

Defensive Player of the Week
Devin Galloway / JR / Lancaster Bible College / Aberdeen, Md. / Aberdeen

Galloway played middle opposite of Bryant and was a solid source of net defense as the Chargers went 1-1 to open the 2026 season. The junior piled up eight total blocks including seven in the win over Marymount. A pair of those blocks also were of the solo variety. 

This is Galloway's first ever Player of the Week nod.

Men’s Basketball

Offensive Player of the Week
Camden Hurst / JR / Lancaster Bible College / Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Mennonite

Hurst continued to show off his offensive skill set, averging 18 points over a two game week for the Chargers. In the midweek win over Gallaudet, Hurst put up 14 points and followed that up with a 22-point outing in the weekend victory over St. Mary's College. Hurst was finding success all over the floor, going 68.2% (15-22) from the field and 57.1 (4-7) from behind the 3-point line. He'd also distribute the rock as he totaled nine dimes across the two contests.

This is Hurst's fourth weekly award of his career (1/12/26. 1/5/26, 12/15/25).

Defensive Player of the Week
Jake Koverman / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Severna Park, Md. / Southern

Jake Koverman poured in a game-best 19 points while hauling in nine rebounds (eight defensive), dishing out a career-best six assists, and picking three pockets as the Seahawks earned a 70-60 road win over Wilson. Koverman chipped in three boards (all defensive), two points and one steal in the loss at Lancaster Bible.

This is Koverman's first Player of the Week nod this year and his second all time (1/29/24)
 

Women’s Basketball

Offensive Player of the Week
Lucy Mauerman / JR / University of Valley Forge / Blountville, Tenn. / Phoenixville Area HS

Mauerman accounted for more than 67% of all points scored by Patriots this week. The junior opened with a career-high 31 in a midweek loss to Penn State Brandywine before putting up 25 in a loss to Cairn University. Mauerman was effective from all over the floor, shooting 50.0% from the field (14-28) and 53.8% (7-13) from long range. She would also add 21 points from the charity stripe.

This is Mauerman's first ever weekly accoalde.


Defensive Player of the Week
Kayla DeBrow / FY / Gallaudet University / Jacksonville, Fla. / Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind

Gallaudet University’s Kayla Debrow made opponents think twice about driving into the post area as the first-year center tallied eight blocks and grabbed 30 rebounds with 17 on the defensive end of the court in two conference wins last week. Debrow scored 12 of her career-high 15 points in the first half of last Tuesday’s 63-50 win at home over Lancaster Bible College. Debrow tallied a double-double with 14 rebounds and swatted two shots, passed out two assists and made one steal. Debrow followed that up another double-double of 10 points and 16 rebounds last Saturday at Keystone College. The Bison erased an 18-point deficit en route to a 50-41 victory and Debrow helped the comeback with six blocks, three steals and two assists. For the week, Debrow recorded 25 points, 30 rebounds (17 defensive), eight blocks, four steals and four assists as the Bison went 2-0. 

This is DeBrow's first ever weekly accoalde.
