2011 North Eastern Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Regular Season All-Conference Selections

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) concluded the men’s soccer season where the SUNY Institute of Technology Wildcats captured their second straight regular season championship with a 7-0-3 conference record (7-5-4 overall). The NEAC is proud to announce the regular season award winners and the all-conference selections.  The NEAC consists of 11 men’s soccer programs and will honor 34 student-athletes on the three all-conference teams as listed below, as well as three individual award winners.

After a dominating season, SUNYIT sophomore goalie Malick Faye (Bronx, N.Y.) was voted as both the NEAC Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year.  Faye, who was also last year’s Goalkeeper of the Year in addition to being last season’s NEAC tournament Most Valuable Player, allowed just two goals during conference play and allowed just 10 goals all season to finish with a 0.92 goals against average.  The 6-foot-3 stopper also made 44 saves in 11 games this season.  The conference’s inaugural Rookie of the Year honor went to Keuka College midfielder Austin Gerber (Rochester, N.Y.), who registered eight points on three goals and two assists while starting in all 15 Storm contests.  For the second consecutive season, SUNYIT head coach Peterson Jerome was honored by his peers as NEAC Coach of the Year after leading the Wildcats to their second straight regular season championship.
