GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Wilson College Phoenix will host the first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Field Hockey Championship after clinching the regular season title Sunday.
The Phoenix defeated the Morrisville State College Mustangs on Sunday to finish with a perfect 3-0 record against NEAC competition. Morrisville State then finished in a three-way tie for second place along with Keuka College and Wells College, with Wells getting the nod to advance to the championship match due to conference tiebreaking procedures.
The Phoenix and the Wells Express will now meet for the NEAC Field Hockey Championship on Saturday, October 31 at 1 p.m. Wilson defeated Wells 2-1 in a double-overtime thriller during their lone regular season contest earlier this month.
Field hockey became the NEAC’s 18th-sponsored sport after beginning play this year.
