Rutgers-Camden Wins Third Straight NEAC Men’s Golf Championship; All-Conference Team Announced

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – The Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors won their third straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men's Golf Championship after carding a two-day score of 620 (305-315) during play on their home course at the par-70, 6,250-yard Pennsauken Country Club Saturday and Sunday.

As the NEAC champion, Rutgers-Camden will now receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.

The Scarlet Raptors led the eight-team field during both days of the tournament en route to the title, thanks to placing five student-athletes in the top 15 of the 40-golfer field.   Senior Nick Baird (Delran, N.J.) led the way with a two-day score of 152 (72-80) to place second individually, directly followed by sophomore Kevin Sarlo (Burlington, N.J.) in third with a score of 153 (76-77) and senior Christopher McDonald (Washington Township, N.J.) in fourth with a score of 154 (77-77).  Seniors Louis Wilson (Pitman, N.J.) and Kevin Anderson (Delran, N.J.) each carded a 165 to place in a three-way tie for 11th place along with Keuka College freshman Michael Parrow (Waterloo, N.Y.)

The performance also helped Bob Cardea land his fourth NEAC Coach of the Year award after a vote of his peers.  Along with NEAC title, Cardea led the Scarlet Raptors to five first-place finishes during the regular season.

Penn State Abington took home runner-up honors with a final score of 656 (322-334).  The Nittany Lions were led by junior Mike Lam (Langhorne, Pa.), who was named the NEAC Golfer of the Year after claiming the individual medalist honor with a final score of 149 (75-74).  The performance capped off an excellent season for Lam, who claimed three NEAC Golfer of the Week awards on the year.

SUNY Cobleskill freshman Wyatt Gorham (Fort Edward, N.Y.) was named the NEAC Rookie of the Year after being the top first-year finisher with a two-day score of 160 (76-84).   That performance, along with junior teammate Ian Wilson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finishing fifth with a score of 155 (76-79), helped the Fighting Tigers place third overall with a score of 661 (330-331).

Keuka College finished fourth with a score of 673 (334-339), while Morrisville State College placed fifth with a 685 (340-345).  Rounding out the field was Penn College in sixth place (341-347—688), Penn State Berks in seventh (358-381—739) and Wilson College in eighth (378-375—753).
