Morrisville State Claims First NEAC Field Hockey Regular Season Title, NAC West Division Championship Game Set

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – With a perfect 4-0 record against league opponents, Morrisville State College claimed its first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Field Hockey Regular Season Championship. The NEAC has also announced that the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Division Championship game will feature Keuka College and Wilson College.

Despite finishing atop the NEAC Field Hockey standings, Morrisville State competes for the automatic qualifier in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and is ineligible to play for the NAC West Division Title. Wilson College defeated Wells College, 4-3, in overtime of the regular season finale to force a three-way tie with Keuka College as all three teams finished with a 2-2 record. By the application of NEAC tiebreaking procedures, Keuka College earned the top seed in the tournament and Wilson College claimed the No. 2 seed.

The NAC West Division Championship game will be hosted by Keuka College on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. The winner of the Keuka College and Wilson College contest will then move on to play the NAC East Division Champion on Saturday, Nov. 4 for the NAC’s automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament. The NEAC will serve as this year’s host of the crossover matchup.

This is the second season that NEAC full members Bryn Athyn College, Keuka College, Wells College and Wilson College have competed as associate members of the NAC, comprising the West Division. The NAC East Division includes Castleton University, Colby-Sawyer College, Husson University, University of Maine-Farmington, New England College and Thomas (Me.)
