Keuka College, Wells College Set for NEAC Field Hockey Championship Game
GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – With an undefeated 3-0 mark in league play, Keuka College claimed its first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Field Hockey Regular Season Championship. The Wolves will serve as the host for the North Eastern Division Championship game next Saturday against Wells College.
Determining the No. 2 seed came down to the final day of the regular season with Morrisville State defeating Wells College, 3-0, to end the season with a 2-1 conference record. Despite finishing second in the NEAC Field Hockey standings, Morrisville State competes for the automatic qualifier in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and is ineligible to play for the North Eastern Division Title. Therefore, No. 3 seed Wells College will advance to the division championship match-up with a 1-2 mark against NEAC opponents. First-year program Lancaster Bible ended the year in fourth place.
The NEAC participates in a conference partnership with the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). NEAC full members Keuka College, Lancaster Bible and Wells College represent the North Eastern Division. The Colonial States Division is comprised of CSAC members Bryn Athyn College, Cedar Crest College, Keystone College, Notre Dame of Maryland University and Wilson College. As part of the agreement, the top two teams in the North Eastern Division and the top three teams in the Colonial States Division advance to the postseason.
The North Eastern Division Championship Game will be held at Keuka College on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. The North Eastern Division Champion will advance to the next round of the tournament, which will be hosted on Tuesday, Oct. 30 by the winner of the Colonial States Division matchup between its No. 2 and No. 3 seed. The winner of the crossover contest will travel to the CSAC’s top seed for a championship game on Saturday, Nov. 3 to determine the recipient of the CSAC’s automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament.
