GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2018-19 Men’s Basketball All-Conference selections, honoring the top 18 players in the league regardless of position. The First, Second and Third Team are each comprised of six players as selected by the conference coaches. The three individual award winners are also determined by coaches’ votes.

As a key piece to his team’s success this season, Morrisville State’s Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) has been recognized as the NEAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year. The Mustangs’ junior forward is the Division III leader with 21 double-doubles and 362 rebounds. Dennis also ranks second among all Division III players with 14.5 rebounds per game. He leads the league in a number of categories including points (531), offensive rebounds (121), defensive rebounds (241) and field-goal percentage (66.8). In conference play, Dennis averaged 21.7 points and 14.8 rebounds per game to help the Mustangs claim the top seed in the NEAC Tournament. He has posted 30 or more points five times this season and scored a single-game high of 35 points against SUNY Poly. In addition to becoming the Mustangs’ all-time leading scorer, Dennis’ play has garnered national attention with two D3hoops.com Team of the Week nods, an NABC Player of the Week selection and USBWA Division III National Player of the Week honors. He was also named NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week five times during the 2018-19 season.

Penn State Berks freshman forward Latrell Carroll (Philadelphia, Pa.) has been named NEAC Rookie of the Year after a strong debut for the Nittany Lions. Carroll ranks second in the NEAC with 246 rebounds and 11.2 rebounds per game. With 424 points, he is eighth in the league in total points while also ranking third in points per game (19.3) and fourth in field-goal percentage (59.2). Carroll recorded a double-double in 15 of the 22 contests that he played in and scored 20 or more points on 12 occasions. One of his best games of the season came in January against conference opponent Keuka College where he scored a season-high 30 points with 15 rebounds. Carroll also finished his first season with 36 assists, 22 steals and 23 blocks. As just one of two freshmen to receive all-conference honors, Carroll was also selected to the NEAC All-Conference Third Team.

Morrisville State head coach Joe Smith takes home NEAC Coach of the Year honors for the second time in his career after leading the Mustangs to the No. 1 seed in the NEAC Tournament. The Mustangs boasted a perfect 10-0 record against North Division opponents and finished the regular season with a 15-1 mark in conference play. Morrisville State enters the postseason as the league’s top offense, scoring 86.2 points per game. The Mustangs lead the NEAC in points (2,155), field-goal percentage (46.6.), rebounds per game (44.7), and assists per game (17.6). In addition to having his leading scorer earn NEAC Player of the Year honors, Smith had three players receive spots on the All-Conference Team.
