Penn College Wins First Ever NEAC Men's Golf Championship

HARRISBURG, Pa. - For the first time in program history, Pennsylvania College of Technology was crowned the 2021 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men's Golf Champions Sunday evening at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course. The Wildcats will now represent the NEAC at the NCAA Division III Championship which will take place May 11-14 at Oglebay Golf Course in Wheeling, W. Va. 

In one of the closest finishes in conference history, Penn College posted a two-day total score of 636 (+60) which was just two strokes fewer than second place Rutgers University-Camden. It was the Wildcats' second day of competition which propelled itself to victory, shooting four strokes lower (320) than any other squad. The team was led by Kohltin Bartlow, who was tabbed the NEAC's Co-Golfer of the Year as he was tied for the lowest two-day score of the 29 competitors. The sophomore tallied a 77 on both days of the event (+10 overall), hitting a key birdie on hole 16 in round two. Teammates Sean McNamara and Alex Acree also found their way into the top 10, placing in a tie for fourth and for ninth, respectively. Coach Matt Haile also tabbed the NEAC Coach of the Year as well.

Leading after day one, Rutgers-Camden slid one spot to take second overall. The Scarlet Raptors shot a combined day two score of 328, putting them at a total of 638 (+62) for the Championship. Chris Colman performed solid all weekend, as his two-day score of 155 (+11) not only led the team but was good enough for third place overall. Teammate Patrick Demareo had the low first-year score, earning him Rookie of the Year honors. The freshman dropped two strokes off his day one 80 score, totalling him a 158 (+14) which put him in a tie with teammate Jaden Bell for sixth.

Penn State Harrisburg took home third, posting a two-day combined score of 640 (+64). Andrew Fink had the top score for the Lions, tying for fourth with a 156 (+12). Fink also totaled the most birdies on the weekend with seven. Teammate Matthew Redman also cracked the top 10 as his 159 (+15) tied him for ninth.

In fourth was Penn State Berks as they finished with a two-day combined of 656 (+80). Drew Morris anchored the team as his event-tying low score earned him NEAC Co-Golfer of the Year honors. Morris shot a 79 on day two, giving him a 154 (+10) overall. Teammate Dan Fieger was not too far behind in a tie for sixth, finishing with a score of 158 (+14).

Lancaster Bible was placed fifth in the Championship, scoring a 708 (+132). The Chargers low scorecard was a 172 (+28), handed in by Austin Gerber. 

Penn State Abington came in sixth with a 714 (+138). Shane Nocito was their top golfer, placing in a tie for ninth with a 159 (+15). He was also the only golfer to score an eagle, hitting two under on hole seven during round two.
