United East Athletes of the Week - October 31, 2023

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for October 31, 2023.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Field Hockey and Men’s Golf.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, October 23 through Sunday, October 29.  A total of 3 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.
 


Field Hockey

Offensive Player of the Week
Adriana Hinkle / Sr / Cedar Crest College / Palmerton, Pa. / Homeschool (Lehighton)

Hinkle had a three-point week in a 2-0 week for Cedar Crest. She had an assist in the Falcons' 3-2 win over Lancaster Bible and then scored on a penalty stroke, which was the lone goal in Cedar Crest's 1-0 win over Wilson College, the program's first win over the Phoenix since 2019. The win also helped the Falcons clinch the No. 2 seed for the United East Conference Tournament.  This is the second Player of the Week award for Hinkle who previously won for the week of October 3, 2022. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Kadee Schrader / FY / Cedar Crest College / Northampton, Pa. / Northampton Area HS

Schrader went 2-0 in goal for Cedar Crest in a 2-0 week for the Falcons and did not allow a goal in 75 minutes of action. She made one save in 30 minutes of action in a 3-2 win over Lancaster Bible, not allowing a goal against the Chargers. Schrader then played the final 45 minutes against Wilson and converted 12 saves in a 1-0 shutout of the Phoenix, the program's first win over Wilson since 2019. One of Schrader's saves came on a penalty stroke in the fourth quarter to help the Falcons preserve the shutout. This is the second Player of the Week award for Schrader who previously won for the week of October 3, 2023.
 

Men’s Golf

Player of the Week
Jacob Lotz / FY / Penn State Harrisburg / Munich, Bavaria, Germany / Lower Dauphin HS

Lotz led the way for Harrisburg, shooting a +6 (78) and earning a share of 5th place overall out of 82 golfers at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational hosted at Lebanon Country Club on Monday, October 23.  The Lions were the highest finishing Division III team at the event, finishing third out of 16 institutions.
