Keystone Claims First Ever United East Field Hockey Title

LA PLUME, Pa. - The United East crowned its first ever champion in field hockey on Saturday afternoon as top-seeded Keystone College defeated No. 2 Cedar Crest College in the United East Field Hockey Championship Final. With the win, the Giants also earn the automatic qualifier to the upcoming NCAA Championship.

Keystone will learn their opponent and where they are heading for the NCAA Tournament during the NCAA Selection Show which premiers on Sunday at 10 p.m.

The Giants got on the board early as the eventual Tournament Most Valuable Player, Maria Tomada, scored just 3:42 into the contest. Keystone then added another courtesy of Belen Rodriguez in the second half. After a scoreless third period, Vicky Mainero topped on the final Giant goal midway through the fourth. Goaltending duties were split as Hannah Osbahr and Casey Stratton combined for the shutout.
