United East Releases 2023 Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams & Major Awards

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has unveiled its 2023 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Teams as well as its major award winners. All-Conference is made up of two teams of six players, regardless of position. The conference also hands out three major awards including Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year.

MAJOR AWARD WINNERS

Player of the Year - Jordan Shewbridge (Lancaster Bible College)

Rookie of the Year - Chase Robinson (Penn State Harrisburg)

Coach of the Year - Jon Mack (Lancaster Bible College)

For the second-straight season, Shewbridge collected the United East’s coveted Player of the Year award. Much like the season prior, the 6’-foot guard dominated offensively as his 17.7 points-per-game ranked third in the conference. Shewbridge tallied double-digit scoring in all but three games this season, totalling 20-plus points 10 times. When opponents gave the New Holland, Pa. native a chance to earn it at the charity stripe he rose to the occasion as well as his 83.7 free throw percentage topped the conference. This year, Shewbridge also did well to distribute the rock as he averaged 2.8 assists per game (10th in the conference). Perhaps his best performance came in a win over SUNY Morrisville as he cashed in a season-high 32 points while sinking seven shots from beyond the arc.

A mainstay sixth man for the Lions, Robinson appeared in all 25 contests en route to his Rookie of the Year title. The Queens Village, N.Y. native averaged 7.7 points per game, hitting the double-digit scoring mark in seven contests this season. Robinson was also not afraid to share the ball as his 2.7 assists per game ranks 11th in the United East Conference. One of the guard’s top outings came in a win over Penn State Abington as he netted a season-best 24 points while registering a pair of steals and a pair of assists.

Much like his Player of the Year, Lancaster Bible College’s Jon Mack was tabbed the United East Coach of the Year for the second-straight season. Mack helped his squad to its second Regular Season title in as many years as the Chargers produced a record of 18-7 (15-1 in conference) and are currently riding an 11-game win streak into the Conference Championship. A good chunk of Mack’s team's production comes on offense where the squad leads the conference in points-per-game with 80.6. That has been aided by his team’s unselfishness as their 17.6 assists per game not only ranks first in the United East but also ranks 16th in Division III.
