LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its Men’s Tennis All-Conference Teams as well as it’s major award winners for the 2022-23 season. All-Conference consists of two teams each with six singles players and three doubles pairings. The major award winners are as follows:
Rookie of the Year - Boris Palmade (St. Mary’s College of Maryland)
Player of the Year - Boris Palmade (St. Mary’s College of Maryland)
Coach of the Year - Sona Hussian (St. Mary’s College of Maryland)
Palamde had a tremendous first year as a collegiate tennis player, earning not only Rookie of the Year honors, but Player of the Year as well. The Bethesda, Md. native was marked as the Seahawks top singles player all year where he went a perfect 6-0 in conference play and 10-0 overall. This season, Palmade never allowed a conference opponent to take more than three games from him in a single match,
Palmade matched his singles efforts in the doubles arena as well, teaming up with Stephen Alam to acheive a perfect 6-0 conference record in the first flight. Those two combined to win 48 conference games while only allowing their opponents to win a combined 16.
Hussian stepped into her role after the new year, serving as the Seahawks interim coach. She guided St. Mary’s College to its second-straight United East Regular Season title, finishing the year with a 6-0 conference record. The Seahawks would gather up three more non-conference victories as well. With Hussian on the sidelines, the Seahawks saw five individuals receive All-Conference recognition as well as three doubles teams. She also coached Palmade to Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors.
