Penn State Harrisburg Concludes Season in First Round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team saw their season come to an end in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 setback against No. 43 Stevens on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday afternoon, May 8.

The Lions dropped a pair of doubles contests to begin the match, with Cooper Wheeler and Damir Cutruric falling 6-2 in the No. 1 outing, while Ian Opitz and Arnav Gupta dropped a 6-1 decision to Elias Alkio and Dhaivik Chenemilla in the No. 3 doubles contest. Ved Pawar and Colin Flack led the No. 2 doubles 5-3 second matchup before the contest was halted.

In singles play, Renat Kramin defeated Opitz 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 pairing, while Chenemilla went over Flack 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 5 match. Wroe secured the overall victory for Stevens with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Michael Rivino in the No. 6 contest. Wheeler fought hard in the top solo outing and trailed 6-5 when it was stopped. Pawar scored points despite trailing 6-2, 1-1 in the No. 2 matchup, while Cuturic was beating Batra 6-4, 1-0 in the No. 3 pairing.
