LATHAM, N.Y. - St. Mary’s College of Maryland has been awarded the 2022-23 United East Presidents’ Cup which recognizes the athletic achievements of its members annually.
The Presidents’ Cup is determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success during both regular season and postseason competition.
St. Mary’s College displayed athletic excellence through the entire year, using a strong spring season to top the Presidents’ Cup leaderboard. The Seahawks hoisted Championship trophies in five different sports including women’s cross country, women’s tennis, men’s tennis, women’s lacrosse and men’s lacrosse. They also found themselves competing in the postseason in nine of their 12 sponsored United East sports.
"What a tremendous honor it is for St. Mary’s and the athletic department to earn the United East Presidents' Cup," remarked Crystal Gibson, Director of Athletics and Recreation at St. Mary's College. "This is a testament to the continuous hard work and dedication of our coaching staff, support staff and of course our student-athletes sacrifices to represent the institution in the highest regard. We are extremely grateful to be amongst such great peer institutions within the league to compete alongside of throughout the year. "
