United East Athletes of the Week - October 14, 2024

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for October 13, 2024.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Field Hockey, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, October 7 through Sunday, October 13.  A total of 8 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Jordan Vandermark / Sr / Keystone College / Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown HS

    Vandermark tallied a four goals in Keystone's 10-0 win over Lancaster Bible College Friday night. This is the first Player of the Week award for Vandermark who is currently second in the United East in Points (18) and Goals (8).

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Sophia Kent / FY / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Chesterville, Md. / The Gunston School

    Sophia Kent played every minute of the team's two overtime contests. Kent began the week with a career-best eight saves in a 2-1 double overtime loss to Mary Washington. She then made four stops in a 1-0 overtime win at Penn State Harrisburg for her first solo shutout of her career. This is the first Player of the Week award for Kent.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Eljo Agolli / Jr / Penn State Abington / Philadelphia, Pa. / Northeast HS

    Agolli scored the game's only goal in the team's 1-0 victory at Rosemont College.  In the team's 4-2 victory at Penn State Berks, Agolli assisted on what turned out to be the game-winning goal by fellow senior Arsene Bado.  Agolli's assist marked the 22nd of his career which is tied for most in program history. 

    This is the fourth Player of the Week award for Agolli, who previously won for the weeks of October 30, 2023, September 12, 2023, and October 3, 2022. Agolli is the reigning United East Player of the Year as well as a two-year (2022 and 2023) First Team All-Conference selection on top of a Second Team All-Region honor in 2023.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Landon Keller / FY / Keystone College / Provo, Ut. / Timpview HS

    Keller posted back-to-back shutouts as he helped lead the Giants to two conference wins on the week. The first-year goalkeeper tallied seven saves in a 1-0 win at Wilson on Tuesday followed by three saves in the victory over Gallaudet on Saturday. This is Keller's first career defensive player of the week award. 

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Kira Bradley / Jr / Bryn Athyn College / Levittown, Pa. / Neshaminy HS

    Bradley led the Lions to two critical conference wins against Cairn University and Valley Forge with a 5 goal, 3 assist, and 13 point week. Bradley scored two goals and the game winner on Tuesday against Cairn. Saturday, she followed up the multi-goal performance with 3 goals and 3 assists against UVF. Bradley amassed 100 points for her career this week. She is the second player in program history to achieve the 100-point mark. 

    This is the third Player of the Week award for Bradley, who previously won for the weeks of October 23, 2023, October 9, 2023, and September 12, 2023. Bradley was the 2023 United East Player of the Year - Skye Division on top of a First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-Region nod.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Katie Brown / Jr / Penn State Harrisburg / Enola, Pa. / East Pennsboro HS

    Katie Brown led a Penn State Harrisburg defensive unit that recorded a pair of shutouts last week and did not allow a single shot across the victories. In addition to anchoring a back line that did not allow a single attempt in wins over Penn State Brandywine and St. Elizabeth, the center back netted her first goal of the season in a victory over the former on Tuesday before adding an assist in the win over the latter on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to Brown's efforts, the Lions have not conceded a goal in their last four contests.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Brown who is a two-time First Team All-Conference award winner in addition to a Third Team All-Region honor in 2023.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Brielle Worley / So / Gallaudet University / Amarillo, Tx. / Amarillo HS / UT-Tyler / University of North Texas

    Worley surpassed 400 kills this season last week as the sophomore outside hitter finished the week with 44 kills, 21 digs and nine aces. Worley, one of the top attackers in NCAA Division III posted a .542 hitting percentage. Of the 72 swings, Worley only had five errors during a week that the Bison went 3-0 including two United East wins.

    Across the country, Worley is 1st in NCAA Division III in Points (457.0), 1st in Total Kills (404), 2nd in Kills per Set (4.81), 3rd in Points per Set (5.44), and 8th in Total Attacks (891).  This is the third Player of the Week award for Worley, who previously won for the weeks of September 30, 2024, and September 9, 2024.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Liliana Magazzu / FY / Cairn University / Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township HS

    Magazzu compiled 41 digs for the Highlanders this week in three games, adding six aces on the offensive side.  This is the first Player of the Week award for Magazzu.
