Offensive & Defensive Player of the Week

Jordan Carpenter / Gr / Penn State Harrisburg / Chester, Va. / Matoaca HS / University of Mary Washington

Jordan Carpenter had a strong showing during Penn State Harrisburg's 2-0 week. In her program debut, the forward scored a game-high 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the field to go along with nine rebounds, five steals, and two blocks in a win over King's (Pa.) on Wednesday night. The grad student followed it up with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double in a victory at Misericordia on Saturday afternoon. For the week, she averaged 22 points on 72 percent shooting and 9.5 rebounds per game. 

This is the first United East Player of the Week award for Carpenter, who is a graduate transfer student from the University of Mary Washington. With the Eagles, Carpenter was a 1,000-point scorer, a three-time All-Conference honoree, the 2024 C2C Conference Player and Defensive Player of the Year, two-time All-Region honoree, and two-time Preseason All-American.

Offensive Player of the Week

Gavin Barrett / Sr / Penn College / Roselle, N.J. /Union HS

Barrett combined for 38 points in a 1-1 week for the Wildcats. Against Muhlenberg on Wednesday, Barrett connected on 8-of-14 shots and made nine free throws for 27 points while also dishing out six assists, having two steals and a blocked shot. On Saturday, Barrett scored 11 points and added seven assists and two steals, all in the second half, to lead the Wildcats in a victory over William Paterson.

This is the third Player of the Week award for Barrett, who previously won for the weeks of February 19, 2024, and November 17, 2022.  Barrett was named USBWA Division III National Player of the Week on February 20, 2024.  Barrett earned First Team All-Conference for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, respectively, while being named a D3Hoops.com All-Region selection in 2024.

Defensive Player of the Week

Cam’Ron Martel / Jr / Saint Elizabeth University / Houston, Tx. / Alief Elsik HS / Texas Permian-Basin

In three games this week, Martel nearly averaged a double-double as the junior totaled 28 rebounds (9.33 per game) and 29 points (9.67 per game). Additionally, Martel shot 50% from the field (12-for-24), handed out two assists, swiped two steals, and totaled five blocks as the Eagles opened the season with three road contests at Rutgers-Newark, New Jersey City University, and Rutgers-Camden.

This is the second Player of the Week award for Martel, who previously won for the week of January 8, 2024, when he had five blocks and seventeen boards across two games in the week.
