United East Women's XC Teams Compete at Regional Races

LATHAM, N.Y. This past Saturday, the United East saw its women’s cross country teams compete in two different NCAA Regional races as nearly every team looked to compete for a spot in the National Championship. 

 

MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL - Lock Haven, Pa. (RESULTS)

The four-time United East Champion St. Mary’s College of Maryland runners helped lead their team to the top conference finish as the Seahawks took home 17th out of 30 teams on Saturday. First year runner Ella Mitchell was the first Seahawk to cross the finish line as her time of 23:27.2 was good enough for 69th in the 217 runner field. Betsy Robey was not far behind her as she clocked a 24:06.5 which placed her in the top-100.

Lancaster Bible also had a solid showing as they had a pair of runners in the top-100 as well. Seana Dougherty (23:35.2) and Abby Ames (23:53.6) both posted solid times as they finished 75th and 83rd, respectively. They helped the Chargers to a 23rd place team finish.

Naomi Fay was the top finisher for Penn State Berks, placing 151st with a time of 26:05.5 while Destiny Samuels finished first for Penn State Harrisburg with a time of 26:56.5 (171st). Amanda Grant placed 191st as she clocked a time of 28:29.1

 

METRO REGIONAL - Stockton, N.J. (RESULTS)

Cairn University had the top team finish at the Metro Regional Race as the team took 19th out of 25 teams. The Highlanders were led by AyliGrace Munro who placed 127th with a time of 27:18.9.

Individually, Sofia Troland from the University of Valley Forge was the top United East finisher as her time of 26:25.2 earned her 109th overall. Not far behind her was Erica Cook from Cedar Crest who placed 112th with a time of 26:31.2. Brielle Worrall was the top runner for the Penn State Abington squad, claiming 123rd place with a time of 27:02.9.
