Penn State Harrisburg and St. Mary's College (Md.) to Meet in Women's Soccer Championship

LATHAM, N.Y. - The finals are set after Wednesday’s Semi Final Round games in the 2024 United East Women’s Soccer Championships.

#1 Penn State Harrisburg def. #5 Penn State Abington, 4-1 - Box Score
Top-seeded Penn State Harrisburg secured their spot in Saturday's championship with a 4-1 victory over #5 Penn State Abington in the semifinal. Abington struck first, with Madison McDowell scoring just 14:31 into the game. However, Harrisburg quickly responded as Ava Fox found the net unassisted at 18:52. Serenity Hill then put Harrisburg in the lead at 20:32, assisted by Diana Pon. Pon continued her strong play, scoring one of her own in the second half, while Hill closed out the scoring with her second goal at 82:20. Harrisburg dominated offensively, outshooting Abington 28 to 2. Despite the relentless pressure, Abington’s Rachel Wilfrid managed 11 saves in goal.

#3 St. Mary’s College (Md.) def. #2 Penn College, 2-0 - Box Score
#3 St. Mary's College of Maryland came out victorious over #2 Penn College, 2-0, in the women’s soccer semifinal. Morgan Kresslein opened the scoring for the Seahawks at 31:59 with an assist from Gracie Tourangeau, putting St. Mary’s ahead in the first half. Megan Rusk extended the lead at 53:08, netting the team’s second goal with a setup by Flor Katz-Starr. Though Penn College outshot St. Mary’s with 11 attempts on goal compared to the Seahawks’ 8, St. Mary’s goalkeeper Kyleigh Bland proved crucial, recording seven saves to keep a clean sheet, while Penn College ended without a single save.

The United East Championship game will take place on Saturday, November 9 with Penn State Harrisburg hosting on campus. The start time for Saturday’s game is 2:00 p.m.
