United East Athletes of the Week - December 2, 2024

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for December 2, 2024.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Basketball.  This week’s selections included contests from Monday, November 25 through Sunday, December 1.  A total of 4 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Jordan Carpenter / Gr / Penn State Harrisburg / Chester, Va. / Matoaca HS / University of Mary Washington

    Jordan Carpenter posted another double-double average across a pair of conference victories for Penn State Harrisburg last week. The grad student had 17 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists in a road win at Keystone on Tuesday night and followed it up with 24 points and 10 rebounds in a victory over Lancaster Bible on Saturday afternoon. For the week, she averaged 20.5 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. 

    This is the third United East Player of the Week award for Carpenter this season, who is a graduate transfer student from the University of Mary Washington.  With the Eagles, Carpenter was a 1,000-point scorer, a three-time All-Conference honoree, the 2024 C2C Conference Player and Defensive Player of the Year, two-time All-Region honoree, and two-time Preseason All-American.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Gigi Parlante / FY / Penn College /Williamsport, Pa. / St. John Neumann

    Parlante nearly recorded a triple-double in Penn College's 62-55 win over Lancaster Bible Tuesday. The freshman netted 18 points, grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds, and dished out a game-best 8 assists. Twelve of her rebounds came on the defensive end, where she also swiped three passes and blocked a shot. 

    This is the second Player of the Week award for Parlante, who previously won for the week of November 11, 2024.  Parlante is currently leading the United East in total rebounds (89) and is second with an average of 11.1 rebounds per game.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Isaiah Coleman / 5th Yr / Cairn University / Fontana, Ca. / Summit HS / Clarks Summit University

    Coleman averaged 19.5 points in two games this week, scoring 18 points on 7-10 shooting from the field and 3-4 from deep on Tuesday night as the Highlanders opened conference play with a win over Valley Forge. He added a 21-point performance on Saturday, shooting 4-7 from three-point range, helping Cairn break their single game program record for made threes. Coleman currently sits second in the United East in three-point shooting percentage at 48.7% through six games.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Coleman.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Daryl Coleman / Jr / Keystone College / Allentown, Pa. / Southern Lehigh / Lackawanna College

    Coleman had a solid defensive performance as he had 17 rebounds, five blocked shots, and two steals in two games this week for Keystone. The junior forward had a double-double in the win against Penn State Harrisburg as he had 21 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals in the conference opening victory Tuesday night. He followed that up with seven rebounds and one block in a non-conference tilt with Wilkes on Saturday. Coleman is currently second in the conference in blocked shots (15) and third in rebounds (67). 

    This is his first Player of the Week award for Coleman.
