VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Gallaudet University’s Hannah Wetzel put on a tremendous performance in the high jump at the Division III NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday afternoon at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.
Wetzel placed 11th in the high jump, posting a height of 1.63 meters. The leaper cleared the first two heights with ease, 1.58m and 1.63 meters without error. She then was unable to get past the 1.63 marks, tying for 11th with three other student athletes.
Wetzel made history as the first women’s track and field athlete to represent the United East on the national stage and the first jumper for the Bison.
