There, the senior clocked an 8.23, narrowly edged by her teammate Rocksann Smith. At the end of the meet, those two along with Avery Arizzi and Lacey Schleig teamed up in the 4x400 relay to help Owens reach her third goal as their time of 4:24.37 topped the field.
Bruner had a day in the jumping pits, hitting the podium in all three events she participated in. The junior took home first in the long jump with a leap of 4.93m, the third best mark in conference history. She then picked up her second gold of the day in the high jump with a mark of 1.55m, just .05m off of 2024 All-American Hannah Wetzel’s best leap. In the triple jump, Bruner collected the bronze medal with a mark of 10.36m.
Schleig made the most of her first United East Indoor Championship as competed in seven different events. The first year claimed gold in the 60m hurdles as she crossed the finish line in 9.66 seconds which set a new Conference record. She’d add up more points to her total in the 200m and 400m as she finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Over at the jumping pits, she’d collect a trio of fourth place finishes. In the high jump she leapt 1.45m, in the long jump she earned a mark of 4.66m and in the triple jump she jumped 10.28m. She’d also team up to win gold in the 4x400m relay.
