United East Players of the Week - October 20, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending on October 20, 2025. Eight players across five member institutions have been recognized for their accomplishments in the sports of men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and field hockey.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Mackenzie Mowery / SR  / Penn State Harrisburg / Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin

    Mackenzie Mowery anchored a defensive unit that did not surrender a goal in four games and led Penn State Harrisburg to a 3-0-1 week. The center back helped the Lions secure a shutout victory over No. 4 Messiah on Tuesday night before posting another clean sheet in a win the next night at Cairn. Her efforts led to another conference shutout victory over Wilson on Saturday before holding regionally-ranked Cortland scoreless on Sunday afternoon. The senior helped hold opponents to just six shots on goal on the week, all of which came in the win over nationally-ranked Messiah.

    This is the first weekly award Mowery's career.

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Diana Pon / SO / Penn State Harrisburg / Miami, Fla. / American Heritage School

    Diana Pon provided the offensive spark that led Penn State Harrisburg to a 3-0-1 record during another unbeaten week. The senior came through with one of the biggest goals of her career when she converted the game winner in a road victory over No. 4 Messiah on Tuesday night to secure the program's first-ever win over a nationally-ranked opponent. She followed it up with her second game-winning goal to go along with an assist in a win at Cairn the next night. The midfielder added another assist on the game-winning score in a victory over Wilson on Saturday to bring her weekly totals to six points thanks to a pair of goals and two assists.

    This is the second weekly award of the season and in her career (9/9/25) 

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Fabiola Medina / SO / Penn State Abington / Caguas, Puerto Rico / Academia del Perpetuo Socorro

    In a 3-0 week for the Nittany Lions, sophomore Fabiola Medina averaged 4.56 digs per set to go along with nine aces.  She highlighted the week with a season-high 24 digs and seven aces in the 3-0 win against Baruch College.  Earlier in the week she totaled 11 digs in the 3-0 victory against Penn College. 

    This is the second weekly award of the season for Medina and her third all time (10/7/24, 9/29/25).

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Brielle Worley / SR / Gallaudet University / Amarillo, Texas / Amarillo

    Gallaudet University junior Brielle Worley (Amarillo, Texas) had a strong week from the outside hitter position where she tallied 43 kills on 88 swings and only seven errors for a .409 hitting percentage in three matches. Worley added 22 digs, five service aces, three assists and three blocks as GU went 3-0 against Valley Forge, DeSales and Penn St.-Berks. Worley leads NCAA Division III in kills (402) and points (459) while she is ranked in the Top 5 for attacks (938) and kills per set (4.84) and points per set (5.53).

    This is the third weekly award of the season for Worley and her ninth overall (9/29/25, 9/1/25, 10/28/24, 10/21/24, 10/14/24, 9/30/24, 9/16/24, 9/9/24)

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Jace Williams / JR / Wilson College / Chesapeake, Va. / Hickory

    Jace Williams had an incredible week in which he scored three goals and an assist to help the Phoenix go 1-0-1. He opened the week with a hat trick against Penn State Brandywine, giving him seven goals on the season. He added an assist in a draw at Valley Forge.

    This marks the first weekly United East award of Williams' career.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Brendan Werner / SR / Penn State Abington / Philadelphia, Pa. / Philadelphia Academy Charter

    In a 2-0-0 week for the Nittany Lions, senior Brendan Werner recorded a pair of shutouts for his fifth and sixth clean slate of the season.  Werner recorded five saves in a 1-0 victory at Lancaster Bible College and capped the week with a two-save performance to preserve a 2-0 triumph against Mount Aloysius College.  Werner, the program's all-time leader in shutouts, now has 18 in his career and the victory against the Mounties marked his 19th of his career placing him in a tie for second in the team's record book. 

    This marks the third weekly United East award in Werner's career (9/29/25, 9/9/24)

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Sophia Kent / SO / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Chesterville, Md. / The Gunston School

    Kent kept a pair of clean sheets on the week as her Seahawks garnered a 2-0 record. She began the week with a shutout over Penn State Harrisburg, turning aside four Lion shots in the process. The netminder then played the first half of an 8-0 win over Cedar Crest College, picking up the win along the way. St. Mary's College has now recorded 10 shutouts on the season

    This marks the fourth weekly award for Kent, three of which have come this season (9/9/25, 9/15/25, 9/22/25, 10/14/24)
     

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Emma Watkins / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Frederick, Md. / Linganore

    Watkins played a big part in the Seahawks 2-0 week which included a pair of conference victories. Watkins collected her fourth game-winning goal of the season as she scored the first in a 2-0 victory against Penn State Harrisburg. She then tallied another goal in a big 8-0 win over Cedar Crest College

    This is the third weekly award of Watkins's career (9/16/24, 10/21/24)
