United East Players of the Week - October 27, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending on October 27, 2025. Eight players across five member institutions have been recognized for their accomplishments in the sports of men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and field hockey.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Nick Haney / SO / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Chesapeake Beach, Md. / Northern

    Nick Haney led the Seahawks in a 2-0 week with two goals and an assist. Haney started the week by scoring the game-winner in a 4-3 come-from-behind win over Regent. He then notched a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win at Lancaster Bible to secure the No. 1 seed.

    This marks the second career weekly accolade for Haney (9/1/25)

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Malachi Abma / SR / Penn State Harrisburg / Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg

    Malachi Abma got it done at both ends of the field for Penn State Harrisburg in three wins last week. The senior helped anchor a defensive unit that surrendered just two shots on goal across three shutout victories. He also scored three goals, including one game winner, to tally nine total points on the week.

    This marks the first weekly United East award in Abma's career.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Madison Timberlake / SR / Lancaster Bible College / Hedgesville, W.V. / Faith Christian Academy

    Timberlake was stout in the backrow for the Chargers, helping her squad pick up three non-conference victories over the week. The senior opened the week with a 12 dig performance against Gwynedd Mercy before posting 20 digs in the win over Susquehanna. She finished the weekend with a 25-dig outing in the win over Drew. She'd go on to add 19 assists on the week as well including 10 against Susquehanna.

    This is the fourth weekly award of the season for Timberlake (9/15/25, 9/8/25, 9/1/25)

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Marah Lehman / FR / Cairn University / Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg

    Lehman set the Cairn program record for most kills in a 3-set match, totaling 22 kills and 25 points in Thursday’s postseason-clinching game against Penn St. Abington. The freshman outside hitter remains second in kills per set (3.73) out of all attackers in the conference.

    This is the first weekly accolade of Lehman's career.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Kara Slavin / SO  / Penn State Harrisburg / Abington, Pa. / Abington Township

    Kara Slavin keyed a Penn State Harrisburg defensive unit that held Lancaster Bible to just two shots, neither of which were on frame, in a shutout victory on Wednesday night. Thanks to the outside back's efforts, Penn State Harrisburg recorded its 12th clean sheet of the fall and finished the regular season without surrendering a goal in conference play. The sophomore also netted the game-winning goal in the victory that secured Penn State Harrisburg the top seed the in the upcoming United East Championship Tournament.

    This is the first weekly award Slavin's career.

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Sara Darlington / SR / Penn College / West Chester, Pa. / Unionville 

    Darlington led the Wildcats to a 3-1 week with five goals. The senior forward put in two goals in a 8-0 victory against Valley Forge and two goals in a 4-1 victory against Lancaster Bible. Darlington finished off the regular season with one goal at Cedar Crest to help the Wildcats lock up the #3 seed in the United East playoffs.Darlington led the Wildcats to a 3-1 week with five goals.   • Defensive Player of the Week

    Jena Vanskiver / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Fallston, Md. / Fallston

    Jena Vanskiver started the week with two defensive saves and scoring the lone goal in a 7-1 road loss to No. 1 Christopher Newport before helping to hold Wilson to four shots (two on goal) in the team's ninth shutout of the season. 

    This marks the third weekly accolade for Vanskiver in her career (10/13/25, 10/21/24)
     

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Briana Allen / SR / Bowie, Md. / Mount de Sales Academy

    Briana Allen notched her first career hat trick plus a career-best seven points in the Seahawks' 5-0 win over Wilson as she finished the game with three goals and an assist.

    This is the first weekly award of Allen's career.
