LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for October 28, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Men's Golf and Men's and Women's Tennis.
This week’s selections included contests through Sunday, October 25.  A total of five student-athletes from three different member institutions were recognized for their performances.
 
Women’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week
Brianna Strittmatter / FR / Penn State Berks / Lexington, Neb. / Boyertown
Brianna put on the best performance of her career, finishing the course in a time of 25:54.6 and crossing the finish line second overall at the Lebanon Valley Last Chance Run Fast Meet. 
This is Strittmatter's first ever weekly accoalde.
 
Men’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week
Holden Furey / JR / Penn College / Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport
Furey was the top performer for the Wildcats on Friday afternoon as Penn College garnered a fourth place finish in the Lebanon Valley College Last Chance Run. The junior clocked a 28:50.3 which was good enough for 15th in a field of 55 runners. The time was only nine seconds off of his personal best.
This is Furey's first ever weekly accoalde.
 
 
Men’s Golf
Golfer of the Week
Jon Breinich / FR / Lancaster Bible College
Gunner Redmond / SR / Penn College / Lock Haven, Pa. / Central Mountain
Redmond finished off the fall season placing sixth at the York Shootout with a 154 (+10). Redmond carded identical rounds of 77 both days. He was second in the field in par-4 scoring with an average score of 4.25 and his five birdies in the tournament was also second-best in the field.
This is Redmond's second weekly accolade of his career (10/7/25)
Men’s Tennis
Player of the Week
Daniel Trott / FR / Penn State Abington / Stroudsburg, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East
In the team's final fall match, freshman Daniel Trott went 2-0 in his matches as the Nittany Lions defeated Penn State Brandywine, 6-1, in a non-conference match.  Trott cruised to a straight sets victory at first singles against Mateo Torres with scores of 6-1, 6-3.  He also teamed up with Mark Tymchenko at first doubles to defeat Brandywine's Torres and Elias Danesh by the score of 6-2.  Trott finished the fall season 3-2 at first singles. 
This is Trott's second weekly accolade of his career (9/30/25)
Women’s Tennis
Player of the Week
Sevara Tursunboeva / JR / Philadelphia, Pa. / George Washington
In the team's final match of the fall season, junior Sevara Tursunboeva helped lead the Nittany Lions to a 5-2 victory at Penn State Brandywine in a non-conference match.  Tursunboeva went 2-0 in the match with victories at third singles and second doubles.  In her singles match against Mari Gvelesiani, Tursunboeva won in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-3.  At second doubles, she teamed up with Alyssa Thompson and the duo won their match by the score of 6-4. 
This is Tursunboeva's second career United East weekly accolade, earning her first one last week.
