LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for October 7, 2025. Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Men's Golf and Men's and Women's Tennis.
This week’s selections included contests through Sunday, October 5. A total of five student-athletes from four different member institutions were recognized for their performances.
Women’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week
Ella Mitchell / SO / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Towson, Md. / Bryn Mawr School
Ella Mitchell led the SMCM flock at the Paul Short Run, finishing 31st out of 287 runners in 24:05.5 after moving up two spots over the final 3K.
This is the second Runner of the Week award of the season for Mitchell (9/2/25).
Men’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week
Trent Jordan / SO / Penn State Berks / Reading, Pa. / Exeter
Jordan had another excellent showing at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University. He finished the 8K in a time of 27:08.5, the sixth fastest 8K time in program history.
This is Jordan's second weekly accolade of the year and his third overall (9/9/25, 10/15/24).
Men’s Golf
Golfer of the Week
Gunner Redmond / SR / Penn College / Lock Haven, Pa. / Central Mountain
Redmond carded two top-10 finishes including individual medalist honors at the United East Fall Preview on Thursday. He also finished ninth with rounds of 71-74--145 (+3) on the Wildcats' home course at the Northeast Elite on Sunday and Monday. Redmond shot an even par-72 to top the field of 47 to lead the Wildcats in their fourth consecutive Fall Preview victory.
This is Redmond's first career United East weekly accolade.
Men’s Tennis
Player of the Week
Talan Nguyen / SO / Penn State Berks / Pottstown, Pa. / Owen J. Roberts
Talan Nguyen helped the Lions take down Alvernia University 7-0 on Saturday, October 4. Nguyen with his doubles partner Jazae Maina-Itegi, picked up a victory in the #1 doubles match, helping securing the team a doubles point. Nguyen was then picked up a 6-1, 7-5 victory in the number #1 singles match.
This is Nguyen's first career United East weekly accolade.
Women’s Tennis
Player of the Week
Katelyn Reiderich / FR / Lancaster Bible College
Katelyn Reiderich found a win at fifth singles as her squad fell to Immaculata University on Monday. The first year relinquished just a single game in the first set before cleaning up 6-2 in the second set.
This is Reiderich's first career United East weekly accolade.
