MEDIA, Pa. - The United East Men’s Cross Country Championship finished Saturday afternoon as runners raced on the campus of Penn State Brandywine.

Penn State Berks hoisted the team trophy for the first time in program history as the Nittany Lions posted a team score of 44. Four Berks runners finished in the top-10 of the race and another clocked in in the top-20. Last year’s Rookie of the Year, Trent Jordan, led the Nittany Lions as his time of 27:51.18 was good enough for third. Nathaniel Leano (30:03.92) and Cristian Corona-Olivares (30:06.40) finished in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Berks’ head coach, Ryan Foster, also collected Coach of the Year honors.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland took second place in the team standings, posting a score of 55. Brandon Smoot was their top runner, crossing the finish line fifth with a time of 28:47.30.
Leading the pack was Sevan Ikeda from Gallaudet University, who took first place with a time of 27:23.1. The first year runner not only earned Runner of the Year honors, but also collected Rookie of the Year acknowledgements.
David Helms from Lancaster Bible College rounded out the podium as the sophomore placed second with a time of 27:44.47.
