Harrisburg Draws Tufts in Opening Round of NCAA Men's Soccer Championship

LATHAM, N.Y. - The Penn State Harrisburg men’s soccer team heads to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2022 and have drawn an Opening Round matchup against Tufts University. That game will take place at 11 AM on Saturday in Waltham, Mass.

Joining those two teams in the pod are Stevens (9-3-6) and host Brandeis (9-3-5). The winner of both of the First Round contests will then square off on Sunday at a time still to be determined.

Penn State Harrisburg (11-6-3) battled their way from the two-seed to capture their first conference title since the 2022 season. After taking down Penn State Abington in penalty kicks during the semifinal round, the Lions used a second-half flurry to upend Penn College, 3-0, in the Final.

Harrisburg has had no problem finding the back of the net this season as their 53 total goals ranks 20th in the country and their 2.65 goals-per-game ranks 23rd. Scoring has come from 20 different players this year with none more than Liam Gohn’s nine.

Defensively, the Lions have been sound as well as their goals against average, which is below a goal a game, leads the conference.

Tufts also earned their way into the Big Dance by winning their conference championship. The Jumbos edged out Connecticut College, 1-0, in the NorthEast Small Colleges Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Final on Sunday. Currently, Tufts sits at No. 1 in the country as put out by the United Soccer Coaches poll last week. They rely on great distribution of the ball as their 40 total assists this year ranks 31st in Division III.
