LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East saw three teams across three different sports earn a Regional Ranking nod these past weeks. Penn State Harrisburg women’s soccer and St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s soccer both were ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Region IV poll last week while Monday’s American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) women’s volleyball had Gallaudet University ranked eighth intheir Region IV poll. Harrisburg had quite the week as they captured their second-straight United East Conference title as they defeated St. Mary’s College of Maryland in penalty kicks on Saturday. The Lions are riding a 10-game unbeaten streak which has them outscoring their opponents 28-2 over that span. Ava Myers was tabbed Most Valuable Player at the 2025 Championship as she netted the two goals in the Final.
St. Mary’s College earned the top seed in the United East Championship before exiting in the semifinal round. It was a tremendous year for the Seahawks who went a perfect 8-0-0 in conference play and posted an overall record of 13-6-1. Head Coach Alun Oliver was tabbed the Coach of the Year while Jack Nelson picked up his second-straight Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Gallaudet earns its first trip to the regional rankings, posting a record of 24-6 on the season. The Bison were riding an 18-game win streak before falling to Bridgewater this past weekend. Offense has been the key for the Gallaudet success as their hitting percentage of .285 ranks first in Division III. The Bison have also excelled at the service line, racking up 323 service aces which ranks fifth in the nation.
Penn State Harrisburg women’s soccer is still in action as they head to the NCAA Championship on Saturday. The Lions will square off against #14 Christopher Newport in the opening round with the start time coming at 4:30 PM.
