United East Athletes of the Week - February 17, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for February 17, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Basketball as well as Men’s Volleyball. 

This is the first week of awards for Men’s Lacrosse.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, February 10 through Sunday, February 16, 2025. A total of 8 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Gigi Parlante / FY / Penn College /Williamsport, Pa. / St. John Neumann

    Parlante averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds on the week in two victories against Rosemont and Cedar Crest. Against the Ravens on Tuesday, Parlante scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to post her 15th double-double of her freshman campaign. She also posted three blocks, two steals and two assists in the win. At Cedar Crest on Saturday, Parlante poured in a game-high 22 points and grabbed another 11 boards with five assists and a steal against the Falcons. Parlante shot 48% (14-29) and 77% (13-17) from the line on the week. 

    Nationally, Parlante is currently sixth in the country with 16 double-doubles, 11th with 4.9 offensive rebounds per game, and 14th in total rebounds with 272. This is the fourth Player of the Week award for Parlante, who previously won for the weeks of December 23, 2024, December 2, 2024, and November 11, 2024.

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Raj Guettler / Sr / Gallaudet University / Frederick, Md. / Maryland School for the Deaf

    Gallaudet University senior guard Raj Guettler was a menace on defense for the Bison last week as she tallied 30 points, 23 rebounds (17 on the defensive end), 13 assists, five steals and one block. Guettler posted back-to-back double doubles with 20 points and 11 rebounds at Penn St.-Abington and 10 points and 12 rebounds at Bryn Athyn, where she swiped four steals and made one block. 

    This is the second Player of the Week award for Guettler, who previously won for the week of January 22, 2024. 

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Livingston Cross / Sr / Penn College / Union, N.J. /Union HS

    Cross averaged 29 points and 16 rebounds in the final two games to complete the regular season leading all of NCAA D-III with 21 double-doubles. Against Rosemont on Tuesday, Cross scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (12 def.) while dishing out three assists and a steal. In the regular season finale at Notre Dame, Cross matched a career-high 35 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and came away with two steals in an overtime game. Cross shot 54% (20-37) and went 82% (18-23) from the free throw line on the week.

    This is the third Player of the Week award for Cross, who previously won for the weeks of November 25, 2024, and November 11, 2024 and earned a First Team All-Conference award in the 2023-24 season.

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Keith Bullock Jr. / Sr / Bryn Athyn College / Washington D.C. / Cardozo / CCBC Catonsville

    Bullock Jr. led the Lions to a 2-0 week making big time defensive plays. He helped the Lions defense hold opponents to 67 PPG. He swiped 9 steals and pulled down 10 rebounds. He registered 5 steals at Harrisburg including the game winning steal which led to an and-1 layup to give the Lions the lead for good with 43 seconds left in the game. Bullock is 3rd in the league in steals. 

    This is the second Player of the Week award for Bullock, who previously won for the week of January 15, 2024.

     

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Bryan Choute / So / Bryn Athyn College / Philadelphia, Pa. / Northeast HS

    Choute led the Lions to a 2-2 week. He was an offensive force registering 53 Kills, 5 Aces in 14 sets played. He averaged nearly 4 kills per set. His best performance came against York (NY) when he logged 18 kills, 2 aces, 4 digs, and 21 points. 

    This is the second Player of the Week award for Choute, who previously won for the week of March 11, 2024.  Last season, Choute was a First Team All-Conference selection after leading the conference with 255 total kills and 311.5 total points.

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Clay Confer / So / University of Valley Forge / Mill Hall, Pa. / Central Mountain HS

    UVF went 2-2 in a competitive week of tough matches against some good competition as Confer had 28 digs and 4 blocks registered on the defensive end to go along with 41 kills. In a 3-2-win vs Immaculata, Confer had a double-double, picking up 14 digs to go along with his 13 kills, a block, and an ace. Against Eastern, Clay had 6 digs, 9 kills and a block. Against Va Wesleyan he picked up 3 more digs, 3 kills, and an ace. In yet another win, this time on the road against Immaculata, Confer led the Patriots in a reverse sweep comeback win in 5 sets, setting the tone with 2 blocks, 5 digs, and 16 kills.

    This is the third Player of the Week award for Confer, who previously won for the weeks of April 1, 2024, and February 12, 2024. 

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Declan Horton / So / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / University Park, Md. / DeMatha Catholic

    Declan Horton currently leads the Seahawks in scoring with seven goals and two assists for nine points over two games. In a 13-11 loss to York (Pa.), Horton put up four goals and an assist plus two ground balls and one caused turnover. He then added three goals and an assist, along with two ground balls, in a 14-3 road win over Juniata.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Horton.

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Bret Hussey / So / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Severna Park, Md. / Severna Park HS

    Bret Hussey scooped up 14 ground balls and caused two turnovers in a 1-1 start to the 2025 season. Hussey notched one ground ball in a 13-11 loss to York (Pa.) before picking up a career-best 13 ground balls and matching a career-high two caused turnovers in a 14-3 road win over Juniata. He also won his first career face-off attempt, finishing the game 1-for-1.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Hussey.
