United East Athletes of the Week - February 4, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for February 4, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field. 

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, January 27 through Sunday, February 2.  A total of 4 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Track Athlete of the Week

    Collin Fitzgerald / SO / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck

    Collin Fitzgerald finished sixth (out of 48) in the 200m at the VWU Marlin Invitational with a school record, personal-best, and conference-leading time of 22.39 (10th in Mid-Atlantic). Fitzgerald also placed 12th (out of 51) in the preliminaries of the 60m with a conference-leading time of 7.10 (19th in Mid-Atlantic). He also ran the second leg of the school record-setting 4x400m relay (3:34.55), which placed eighth (out of 13) as Fitzgerald ran a 52.280 split.  

    This is the first indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Fitzgerald.

     

    Field Athlete of the Week

    Zack Kralec / JR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Monkton, Md. / Hereford

    Zack Kralec wins the pole vault with a school record, personal-best, and conference-leading height of 4.40m, which ties for 79th in Division III and comes in third in the Mid-Atlantic region. Kralec also ran the third leg on the 12th-place 4x400m (3:52.91), clocking a 56.900 split.

    This is the second indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Kralec and fourth of his career (Jan. 21, 2025 / Jan. 23, 2024 / Jan. 16 2024)

     

  • Track Athlete of the Week

    Molly Wagner / GR / Carlow University / Pleasant Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson HS

    Wagner placed third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.13 and fourth in the 200 at 27.15 at the University of Mount Union Jim Wuske Invite Saturday. She was also part of the 4x200 relay team that earned second place with a time of 1:57.82. Wagner currently tops the United East in both the 60-meter dash and the 200m.

    This is the second indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Wagner as she was named the Track Athlete of the Week last week as well.

     

    Field Athlete of the Week

    Jillian Zukley / SO / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Severna Park, Md. / Saverna Park

    Jillian Zukley finished third in the weight throw at the VWU Marlin Invitational with a school record, personal-best, and conference-leading distance of 13.79m (11th in Mid-Atlantic region). Zukley also placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 11.71m, where she currently sits at second in the conference.

    This is the second indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Zukley this season and her third in her career (January 21, 2025 & January 16, 2024)
