United East Athletes of the Week - March 18, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for March 4, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week will include Men's and  Women’s Tennis. 

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, March 10 through Sunday, March 16. A total of two student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Women's Tennis Player of the Week

    Allison Wootton / SO / Penn State Harrisburg / Portage, Mich. / Portage Northern 

    Penn State Harrisburg's Allison Wotton opened the spring in impressive fashion in three matches in Hilton Head, S.C., teaming with doubles partner Breanna DeSantis to go 3-0 at the No. 1 spot and going 3-0 in the No. 1 singles spot in a pair of wins over Lynchburg and Alfred, as well as a setback against Pfeiffer. 

    This is Wootton's third time being named Player of the Week of the season and ninth time in her career (09/26/23 | 10/03/23 | 10/10/23 | 04/02/24 | 04/09/24 | 04/23/24 | 10/08/24 | 10/15/24)

     

    Men's Tennis Player of the Week

    Nick Rohr / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Fairfax County, Va. / James W. Robinson

    Nick Rohr posted a 2-1 singles record at No. 1 singles while going 1-2 with doubles partner, Jacob Nelson, at No. 1 doubles at the PTR Spring Tennis Fest down in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Rohr helped the Seahawks notch a 4-2 win over Penn State Behrend with a 6-1 victory over Jonathon Laier and Owen Sinnott before notching a 6-4, 6-3 over Sinnott. In a 7-0 loss to Lynchburg, Rohr and Nelson lost 6-7 (3) to Luca Morbioli and Timothee DePaquit before Rohr fell 1-6, 0-6 to Morbioli. SMCM ended its Spring Break trip with a 6-1 win over Alfred as Rohr tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ricardo Alvarez after falling 4-6 in doubles to Alvarez and Breece Erickson.  

    This is Rohr's first time being named Player of the Week of the season and second of his career (04/16/24)
