United East Athletes of the Week - March 24, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for March 24, 2025.  Today will include Players of the Week for men’s and women's lacrosse, men’s volleyball, baseball and softball.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, March 17 through Sunday, March 23, 2025. A total of 10 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Jackson Wolfe / FY / Wilson College / Abbottstown, Pa. / New Oxford

    Wolfe had an incredible week defensively as he totaled 13 blocks in the front row across two matches to help Wilson go 2-0 on the week. He had seven blocks in a midweek match with Cairn before rejecting six attacks by Pratt in the home finale Saturday. Wolfe was close to a triple-double as he had nine digs on the receiving end against the Highlanders as well. The 6-4 first year player was also strong on the offensive side with 17 kills against Cairn and added six against the Cannoneers.

    This is the third career Player of the Week award for Wolfe (03/10/25 | 02/10/25)

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Jacob McCoy / JR / Wilson College / York, Pa. / Spring Grove

    McCoy was a catalyst on the attacking end for both of Wilson's win's in a 2-0 week. He opened up with 12 kills in a midweek clash at Cairn and followed up with nine to lead the Phoenix in the home finale against Pratt on Saturday. He hit over .400 in both contests with his 21 kills coming on 40 attempts with just four errors for a success rate of .425.

    This is the first career Player of the Week award for McCoy in his career

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Keegan Preis / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Upper Falls, Md. / Loyola Blakefield

    Keegan Preis dropped a career-best six goals and five assists in a 26-7 win over Penn College. Along the way, Preis notched a pair of milestones as he tallied his 200th career point as well as his 150th career assist. 

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Preis this season and his second of his career (02/21/22)

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Jeremy Heath / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Chester, Md. / Kent Island

    Jeremy Heath helped the Seahawk defense with a career-best four caused turnovers and four ground balls in a 26-7 win over Penn College.

    This is Heath's second Player of the Week award of the season and third of his career (02/24/25  |  04/01/24)

  • Player of the Week

    Mackenzie Weaver / SR / Penn College / Williamsport, Pa. / Montoursville

    Weaver did it all for the Wildcats in a 6-0 week, claiming three nonconference doubleheader series victories against Penn State Schuylkill, Rosemont and Penn State Altoona. Weaver recorded at least one hit in all six games and finished the week with 11 hits, 12 RBIs, six runs, three doubles, two stolen bases and a .524 batting average. She produced two hits and three RBIs in three games while also claiming three victories in the circle where she finished the week with 18 strikeouts and 16 hits surrendered without an earned run.

    This is Weaver's first career Player of the Week award and eighth weekly accolade of her career with the other seven being Pitcher of the Year nods. (03/13/23 | 04/17/23 | 03/11/23 | 04/01/24 | 04/08/24 | 03/03/25  |  03/17/25)

    Pitcher of the Week

    Mackenzi Tice / FR / Penn College / Mansfield, Pa. / North Penn-Mansfield

    Tice enjoyed a 3-0 week in the circle with complete-game victories against Penn State Schuylkill, Rosemont and Penn State Altoona. The freshman Wildcat racked up 31 strikeouts including a career-best 16 on Saturday against the Ravens and 10 against Altoona on Sunday. Tice allowed just nine hits and one earned run across all three outings to lower her season ERA to 2.12 and improve to 4-2. 

    This is the first Pitcher of the Week award in Tice's career.

  • Player of the Week

    Dylan Witkowski / JR / Lancaster Bible College / Allentown, Pa. / Northwestern Lehigh

    Witkowski went on a tear this week going 6-9 from the plate as the Chargers went 2-1 overall with wins over Wilson and Penn St. Berks. Witkowski accounted for 10 runs, four runs batted in, and seven walks. He also posted a game high two homeruns in the win versus Wilson. Witkwoski is averaging a team and conference best .483 batting average.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Witkowski this season and third time of his career (3/25/24  |  3/18/24 ).  

    Pitcher of the Week

    Greg Jessup / JR / Cairn University / Tyler, Texas / McKinney Christian

    Jessup pitched 4.2 scoreless innings in relief over two games, helping Cairn earn a pair of victories in the process. The junior shut the door against Muhlenberg, punching out two in just a single inning and earning the save. Against Penn St. Brandywine tossed 3.2 innings he'd strike out seven and pick up the win.  On the week, Jessup maintained a perfect 0.00 ERA while allowing just one hit.

    This is the first Pitcher of the Week award for Jessup of his career.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Carsyn Smith / JR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Crownsville, Md. / Old Mill

    Carsyn Smith commanded the defense with a career-best five caused turnovers, season-best two draw controls, and two ground balls in a 16-10 loss at No. 10 York (Pa.) before scooping up three ground balls, one caused turnover, and one draw control in a 16-9 loss at No. 25 Messiah.

    This is the first Defensive Player of the Week in Smith's career.

     

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Kylah Demarest / JR / Cedar Crest College / Vernon, N.J. / Vernon Township

    Demarest collected 22 points over three games in a 3-0 week for Cedar Crest. She began the week with a six-point performance on three goals and three assists in a 19-4 win over Trinity Washington. Demarest then scored a career-high eight goals in a 23-1 triumph over Purchase. She then closed the week with a another eight-point game on four goals and four assists in a 19-0 win over SUNY Old Wesbury. The junior also collected three ground balls, six caused turnovers, and seven draw controls on the week. 

    This is the first Offensive Player of the Week in Demarest's career.
