United East Athletes of the Week - March 4, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for March 4, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Tennis. 

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, February 17 through Sunday, March 2. A total of two student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Women's Tennis Player of the Week

    Giselle Harris / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Easton, Md. / Easton

    Harris notched a pair of victories as the Seahawks went 1-1 to start off their 2025 spring season. In the opening loss against York (Pa), Harris teamed up with Sarah Levit to win 6-2 from the second doubles position. Later in a win over Marymount, Harris cruised to a victory in the fourth singles flight, 6-3, 6-4.

    This is Harris' first time being named Player of the Week of her career.

    Men's Tennis Player of the Week

    Jacob Nelson / FY / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Olney, Md. / Sherwood

    Nelson picked up three wins as the Seahawks went 1-1 to start the 2025 spring season. In the season opener against York (Pa.), the first year needed all three sets as he defeated his opponent 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 in the second singles flight. He then picked up two wins in the victory over Marymount. Nelson teamed up with Nick Rohr for a 6-1 win at first doubles and went on to win 6-7, 6-0, 6-3 from the third singles position

    This marks the first weekly conference accolade in Nelson's career.
