United East Athletes of the Week - April 28, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for April 28, 2025.  Today will include Players of the Week for men’s lacrosse, baseball and softball.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, April 21 through Sunday, April 27, 2025. A total of six student athletes were recognized for their performances.

These are the final Athlete of the Week awards for the 2024-25 academic year as conference playoffs begin this week.

  • Player of the Week

    Cole Tarleton / Sr. / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Hollywood, Md. / Leonardtown HS 

    Cole Tarleton hit at a clip of .727 in a 2-2 week for the Seahawks. Tarleton tallied eight hits which included three doubles, one triple, and one home run, while driving in 11 runs and scoring six. He also drew six walks while slashing .727 BA/.778 OBP/1.455 SLG.

    Tarleton started the week with a 2-for-2 effort in a 20-9 win (7 inn.) at Rosemont. He cracked a three-run homer as he finished the game with four RBI and scored three while drawing three walks.

    He then went 1-for-3 in a 10-0 (8 inn.) loss to No. 9 Salisbury. Tarleton's lone hit was a double and he was just one of two Seahawks to get a hit.

    Tarleton continued his offensive streak by going 4-for-4 in a 14-4 (7 inn.) win over Penn State Abington (Game 1). He connected on two doubles and a triple, driving in a career-best five runs and scoring a season-high three, while his four hits matched a career-best. Tarleton also drew one walk. He finished the doubleheader by going 1-for-2 in an 11-9 loss to Penn State Abington (Game 2), collecting two RBI and drawing two walks.

    This is the second Player of the Week award this season for Tarleton, who previously won for the week of April 14th.  Tarleton was awarded First Team All-United East in 2024 and earned Second Team honors both in 2022 and 2023, with 2022 earning a D3Baseball.com Region 4 Third Team honor as well.

    Pitcher of the Week

    Quinn Holt / Sr. / Keystone College / North Wales, Pa. / North Penn HS

    Holt picked up his fourth win of the season as he tossed six scoreless and allowed one hit with 12 strikeouts in the Giants victory over Penn State Berks on Friday. This is Holt's first career pitcher of the week award. 

  • Player of the Week

    Mackenzie Weaver / Sr. / Penn College / Williamsport, Pa. / Montoursville HS

    Weaver batted .438 with a .438 on-base percentage and a .625 slugging percentage in the Wildcats' four games against Penn State Harrisburg and Penn State Berks. The Senior Wildcat accumulated seven hits, six RBIs and three runs scored on the week, including a three-run home run in game one against Berks on Saturday. Weaver has successfully produced a base hit in eight straight games and finished the regular season with three straight two-hit games. 

    This is the second Player of the Week award (3/24/25) and ninth overall award with seven Pitcher of the Week nods (3/17/25, 3/3/25, 4/8/24, 4/1/24, 3/11/24, 4/17/23, 3/13/23).

    Pitcher of the Week

    Julia Wilkes / FY / Wilson College / Abingdon, Md. / John Carroll HS

    Wilkes made her first appearance in 25 days after returning from an injury and tossed a no-hitter to provide Wilson a win in Game 1 against Cedar Crest. Not only did the first year hurler not allow a hit, but she matched her season-high of nine strikeouts in the process despite the game going only six innings in the 9-0 win. She recorded multiple strikeouts in three of the six innings with a complete strikeout of the side in the third.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Wilkes who is currently fifth in the league with a 2.07 ERA.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Jacob Lingerman / Sr. / Cairn University / Goshen, N.Y. / Goshen HS / Clarks Summit University

    Lingerman finished off his season with six points against Centenary in Cairn's season finale on Friday night, scoring three goals with three assists, adding eleven ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Lingerman who is 5th in Shots per Game (6.55) and 9th in Goals per Game (1.64).

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Walt Heiser / Sr. / Penn College / Milford, N.J. / Delaware Valley HS

    Heiser led the Wildcats defense on Saturday in a 28-3 victory against Bryn Athyn. The senior defenseman caused a team-high three turnovers and scooped up two ground balls in the Senior Day victory. Heiser and the Wildcats held the Lions to just eight shots in the win. Heiser finished the regular season leading the team among defenders with 37 ground ball pickups and seventh on the team with 11 caused turnovers.

    This is the first Player of the Week award for Heiser who is 18th in Ground Balls per Game (2.18).
