United East Players of the Week - September 15, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending on September 14, 2025. Eight players across five member institutions have been recognized for their accomplishments in the sports of men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and field hockey.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Franco Reyes / JR / St. Mary's College (MD) / Silver Spring, Md. / Montgomery Blair

    Reyes was a staple on the Seahawk offense, helping the team go 1-0-1 on the week. The junior rocketed three shots across the two games one of which registered as the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Stevenson.

    This marks the first weekly United East award of the season for Reyes.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Frank Monaco / SO / Penn State Abington / Philadelphia, Pa. / Archbishop Ryan

    Abington went 0-0-2 this past week with ties against Haverford College (T, 0-0) and against Shenandoah University (T, 1-1).  Sophomore Frank Monaco was part of a defensive unit that held the unblemished Fords (3-0-3) scoreless for just the second time this season.  Against Shenandoah, Monaco scored his first collegiate goal to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead at the time.  The Abington defense held the Hornets to just four shots in the game. 

    This marks the first ever weekly United East award for Monaco.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Jasmin Alvarez / FR / Penn State Brandywine / Tracy Calif. / Tracy

    Jasmin Alvarez went 2-0 with a .923 save percentage and one shutout last week in goal for Brandywine. She recorded the first shutout of her career in a 4-0 victory at Valley Forge, stopping the lone shot she faced. Four days later, Alvarez was tested 12 times, blocking 11 shots, in a 2-1 victory over Pratt.

    This is the first weekly award of the Alvarez's career.

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Emma Kearns / FR / Penn State Brandywine / Springfield, Pa. / Springfield

    Emma Kearns scored two goals in two games, leading Brandywine to a 2-0 week last week. She scored the team's first goal in a 4-0 victory at Valley Forge on Tuesday. Kearns then netted the game-winning goal during the 81st minute in a 2-1 win over Pratt on Saturday.

    This is the first weekly award of the Kearn's career.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Hannah DeGregory / Sr / Penn State Harrisburg / Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson

    Hannah DeGregory did a little bit of everything for Penn State Harrisburg during a 2-1 week. The senior opened the week by racking up a match-high 16 assists to go along with seven kills in a road sweep of Lycoming on Thursday night. The Fairfax, Va. native followed it up with her first double-double of the week when she tallied 14 kills and 15 assists, as well as a pair of aces, in handing Marywood their first loss of the season on Saturday morning before closing out the weekend by finishing one dig shy of a triple-double with 10 kills, 14 assists and nine digs. During the week, DeGregory recorded 31 kills, 45 assists and 35.5 total points, while also surpassing the 500-kill, 700-assist and 500-dig marks for her career.

    This is the first weekly award of the season for DeGregory and her second of her career (9/2/24).

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Madison Timberlake / Senior / Lancaster Bible College / Hedgesville, W.V. / Faith Christian Academy

    Timberlake continued to show her prowess on the backline, earning double-digit digs in all three of the Charger matches this week. The senior led off the week with a career-high 24 digs against Messiah followed by a 17-dig outing against Ohio Christian. She'd round out the week with 10 digs against Rochester Christian. On the week, Timberlake amassed 51 digs while only recording three receiving errors.

    This marks the third-straight weekly United East award of the season Timberlake.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Ami Mattingly / Gr / Penn State Harrisburg / Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley

    Ami Mattingly had another strong week in helping lead Penn State Harrisburg to a 2-0 record. The fifth-year player scored the team's lone goal in regulation against Lebanon Valley on Wednesday evening, allowing the Lions to eventually defeat LVC in the first shootout in program history. The Mechanicsburg, Pa. native followed it up by converting a pair of markers, including the game-winning goal, in a decisive victory over King's (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon. Her three goals on the week increased her overall total to nine on the year, already matching the program's single-season scoring record just five games into the fall.

    This marks the second weekly United East award for Mattingly of her career.
     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Sophia Kent / So / St. Mary's College (Md.) / Chesterville, MD / The Gunston School

    Sophia Kent began the week by contributing to the team's second shutout of the season with 45 minutes of scoreless action. Kent then racked up a career-best 23 saves in a 3-0 road loss to No. 2 Salisbury. She fell four saves shy of breaking the single-game record for saves as Nichole Downs '02 and Christy Bishop '15 each registered 26 stops in a game for the record.

    This marks the second-straight weekly United East award of the season for Kent and the third of her career (9/9/25, 10/14/25).
