LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for March 10, 2026. Today will include Athletes of the Week from men's and women's tennis awards.
This week’s selections included contests through Sunday, March 8. A total of 2 student-athletes from St. Mary's College of Maryland were recognized for their performances.
Men’s Tennis
Athlete of the Week
Aidan Cron / FR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Ardmore, Pa.
Aidan Cron earned a 6-3 win with his partner, Max Esztergomi, at No. 2 doubles over York (Pa.)'s Ian Bartles and Drew Heinzelmann before posting a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jason Lutz at No. 3 singles. Cron's wins helped the Seahawks notch a 6-1 win over York for Interim Head Coach Eric Heisler's first career win.Cron then won the most games in SMCM's 7-0 loss to Goucher as he fell 4-6, 1-6 at No. 3 singles to Benedikt Rummel.
This is Cron's first United East weekly accolade of the season.
Women’s Tennis
Athlete of the Week
Lily Ganjbaksh / FR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Potomac, Md.
Lily Ganjbaksh dropped only four games over two matches against York (Pa.) and Goucher. In a 5-2 win over York, Ganjbaksh and her partner, Sarah Levit, came up short in a 6-2 loss at No. 1 doubles to Maddi Haggerty and Bri Serruto before Ganjbaksh rebounded with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Serruto at No. 1 singles. In a 4-3 win over Goucher, Ganjbaksh and Levit blanked Natalia Navarro and Meline Siggen at No. 1 doubles before Ganjbaksh picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles over Navarro.
This is Ganjbaksh's second United East weekly accolade of the season (9/23/25).
