LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East is proud to announce that Penn State Abington Chancellor, Gary Liguori, has been named to the NCAA Division III Presidents’ Advisory Group (PAG). Liguori is the new United East representative with his role beginning in January of 2026.
“As a former NCAA student-athlete, I am honored to represent the United East Conference on the Presidents Advisory Group," Penn State Abington Chancellor Gary Liguori said. "I look forward to helping shape national strategies for Division III athletics that strengthen governance, inform strategic priorities, and expand opportunities so student-athletes can thrive both on the field and in life.”
The NCAA utilizes Presidential Advisory Groups and Councils across its divisions (especially Division III) to provide strategic counsel, review legislation, and address major challenges in college athletics. These groups, composed of university presidents and chancellors, act as a sounding board for governance, focusing on academic integrity, student-athlete experience, and, in DIII, overseeing divisional policy and financial stability.
"We are thrilled to have Chancellor Liguori represent the United East on the NCAA Division III Presidents' Advisory Group,” remarked United East Commissioner, Stephanie Dutton. “Our United East Presidents & Chancellors are a highly engaged and well-informed group that fully understand the value that intercollegiate athletics brings to our member institutions. Throughout his tenure at Penn State Abington, Chancellor Liguori consistently brings insightful thoughts and challenging questions to our group and we know he will do the same alongside his Division III colleagues over the next two years.”
Liguori will serve in this role until January 2028. He is preceded by Wilson College President, Wes Fugate, who was on the PAG for the past two years.
“We also would like to thank President Wes Fugate for his service in recent years as he has been a steadfast advocate for the needs of our conference on the PAG," stated Dutton.
