ABINGTON, Pa. – The SUNY Cobleskill women’s cross country team won its fourth straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women’s cross country championship, which was hosted by Penn State Abington at Lorimer Park in Huntingdon Valley, Pa., on Saturday.  The Fighting Tigers won with a team score of 34 points and saw their five top runners finish in the top 12.

Penn State Berks came in second place with a team score of 49, while Wells College came in third for the second straight year with 81 points.  Rounding out the top five team finishes were Morrisville State College (107) and Penn State Abington (156).  The rest of the field finished as follows: Cazenovia College (6th, 176 points); Keuka College (7th, 181 points); Gallaudet University (8th, 204 points); Lancaster Bible College (9th, 220 points); Penn State Harrisburg (10th, 284); College of Saint Elizabeth (11th, 287); and SUNY Institute of Technology (12th, 300 points).

Individually, Wells College sophomore Emily Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) was the first-place finisher for the second straight year with a time of 21:52 at the 5-kilometer course en route to being named the NEAC Runner of the Year for the second consecutive year.  Middlebrook won two NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week awards during the season.

Penn State Berks freshman Laura Keller (Pipersville, Pa.) was honored as the NEAC Rookie of the Year after being the first rookie runner to cross the finish line at the championship event.  The award capped off a stellar year for Keller, as she was the top Berks finisher at all seven of the races the Nittany Lions competed in.

SUNY Cobleskill’s Mitch Tomaszkiewicz was voted by his peers as the NEAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Fighting Tigers to four top-five finishes on the season.
