St. Mary's College Earns Women's Cross Country Crown

LANCASTER, Pa. - The United East held its 2021 Women’s Cross Country Championship Saturday morning on the campus of Lancaster Bible College. The 6-kilometer course was a bit soggy for the runners as all nine member institutions took their marks.

The Seahawks of St. Mary’s College of Maryland earned the first ever United East title as the squad averaged 27:01.66 between its top-five runners. Taking second was Penn State Harrisburg (30:03.22 avg) and SUNY Morrisville took third (30:38.78).

It was quite the day for the Seahawks’ Madeleine Blaisdell, who was the first to cross the finish line with a time of XXXXx. The time earned her both Runner of the Year honors as well as Rookie of the Year honors. 

Following closely behind her were a pair of Penn State Harrisburg runners in Samantha Aromin (24:28.00) and Tatyana Gibson (25:40.00). SUNY Morrisville’s Pippy Prichard would then claim fourth as she finished the race in 27:11.80.

Wells College’s top, and only, runner was Hannah Kulla who took eighth with a time of 28:08.80 while host Lancaster Bible’s top runner was Amanda Allen, who finished one position behind Kulla with a time of 28:11.50.

Penn State Berks’ top finisher was Madison Motze who clocked a 12th place time of 28:41.90. Right near her was Penn College’s Cinnamon Diggan who took 18th with a time of 29:39.10. Gallaudet’s top runner was Cassie Friday, who took 20th (30:06.20) and Penn State Abington’s was Diana Pasichnyk, who took 28th (31:35.30).

At the race's conclusion, Reava Potter of St. Mary’s College was crowned the Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
