United East Athletes of the Week - December 10, 2024

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for December 10, 2024.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field. This is the first Athlete of the Week in 2024-25 as the indoor track and field season began this past weekend.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, December 2 through Sunday, December 8.  A total of 4 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Track Athlete of the Week

    Mileah Cotton / FY / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Smyrna, De. / Smyrna HS

    Mileah Cotton won the 800m at Ursinus' Bow Tie Invitational with a time of 2:28.90 (fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region). Mileah also ran the third leg of the winning 4x400 relay, which posted a time of 4:25.32 (seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region). She added a fifth-place finish in the mile with a time of 5:37.48 (21st in the Mid-Atlantic Region).

    This is the first Athlete of the Week award for Cotton.

     

    Field Athlete of the Week

    Midajah Davis / Sr / Gallaudet University / Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry HS

    Gallaudet University senior thrower Midajah Davis (Roanoke, Va.) placed second in the shot put with a toss of 12.16 meters at the Bow Tie Invitational hosted by Ursinus College.

    This is the second indoor Athlete of the Week award for Davis, who previously won for the week of January 30, 2024.  Davis is the 2024 United East Indoor champion in the shot put and is a three-time All-Region awardee in the circle.

  • Track Athlete of the Week

    Nick Haylock / Jr / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Fort Meade, Md. / Meade HS

    Nick Haylock was part of the second-place 4x400m relay at Ursinus' Bow Tie Invitational, placed fourth in the 60m dash in 7.23 (29th in D3 Mid-Atlantic Region), and the 60m hurdles in 9.18 (21st in D3 Mid-Atlantic Region) while coming in 12th in the 200m in 24.22 (43rd in D3 Mid-Atlantic Region).

    This is the first Athlete of the Week award for Haylock.

     

    Field Athlete of the Week

    Kyle Durkin / FY / Lancaster Bible College / Adelphia, N.J. / Calvary Christian

    Durkin had a fantastic first showing for the Chargers, earning first place in the long jump at the Diplomat Open with a jump of 6.61 meters. The jump broke a school record and qualified for the NCCAA Nationals. He also placed sixth overall in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 23.72. 

    This is the first Athlete of the Week award for Durkin.
