LANDOVER, MD. - The United East held its first ever Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships on Monday at the Prince George Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md. Penn State Behrend would claim the overall title, winning nine gold medals and scoring 216.5 total points.

Eric Gregory from Gallaudet University was named the Track Athlete of the Year as he amassed 26.25 points across four different events. The sprinter took home first in both the 200m and the 400m and would garner more points in the 60m dash and the 4x400 relay as he placed fourth in both of those events.
Behrend’s Alex Cotton was tabbed the Field Athlete of the Meet, racking up 15 points for his team in the throws. The sophomore topped the field in the shot put after placing fourth in the weight throw.
Ty Tindal from St. Mary’s College of Maryland earned Rookie of the Year honors as his 36 points topped all athletes competing. The first year was the gold medalist in the 60m dash while taking home bronze in the 4x400 relay and the 60m hurdles. He also picked up a fourth place finish in the 200m. Tindal found success in the jump pits as well, taking home second in the long jump and third in the high jump.
Greg Cooper was also named Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the Championships.
