Men's Indoor Track and Field 3/6/2024 10:00:00 AM Gregory, Wetzel Qualify for NCAA Indoor T&F Championship VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Two Gallaudet University track and field student-athletes will be competing at the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee this weekend. Eric Gregory will be competing in the 200-meter race while Hannah Wetzel will be representing in the high jump. For each individual event contested, including the heptathlon and pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition. The championships will be held March 8-9 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Norfolk State University serving as the host. Gregory is no stranger to NCAA Championships as he is the two-time defending Outdoor Champion in the 400-meter dash. For the 2024 Championships, Gregory has the second-best seed time at 21.17 seconds, right behind the top-seed of 21.16 seconds. His 21.17 time was posted at the VMI Invitational on the campus of Virginia Military Institute and is one-hundredths off his school-record time of 21.16 seconds; set at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Al. The 200-meter preliminary heats begin at 4:30 PM on Friday, March 8th. Finals will begin at 5:30 PM on Saturday. Gallaudet University: Hannah Wetzel (High Jump) Gallaudet University senior jumper Hannah Wetzel (Fremont, Ca.) qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships with a school-record jump last weekend at the NCAA South Region Final Qualifier hosted by Shenandoah University. Wetzel broke her own school record in the high jump by winning the Qualifier with a top mark of 1.70 meters (5 feet, 6.75 inches). Her old record was 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches), set in January 2024. Wetzel is seeded in a tie for 5th place with the 1.70 meters mark; right behind the top-seed of 1.75 meters. This is the first Indoor National Championship appearance for Wetzel. The High Jump competition begins at 12:00 PM on Saturday afternoon.
