United East Athletes of the Week - January 21, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for January 21, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field. 

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, January 13 through Sunday, January 19.  A total of 4 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Track Athlete of the Week

    Seana Dougherty / FY / Lancaster Bible College / Lancaster, Pa. / Homeschool

    Dougherty posted her personal best in the 3000-meter run on Saturday at the Alvernia Winter Invitational finishing seventh overall with a team best of 11:14.46. Her time is now the top in the conference and qualified her for the NCCAA Indoor National Championships. Dougherty also helped lead the 4x800m relay team to a school record as the anchor. She now leads the conference in both the 3000m run and 5000m run. 

    This is the first indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Dougherty.

     

    Field Athlete of the Week

    Jillian Zukley / FY / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Severna Park, Md. / Severna Park HS

    Jillian Zukley finished third (out of 51) in the shot put at the Alvernia Winter Invite with a throw of 11.72m. Zukley also came in fourth (out of 44) in the weight throw with a school record and personal-best throw of 13.75m, crushing her own school record by 2.48m (11.27m set 12/7/24). She now owns the best weight throw in the conference while ranking 11th in the Mid-Atlantic region.

    This is the second indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Zukley, who previously won for the week of January 16, 2024.  Zukley was a silver medal winner in the shot put and a seventh-place finish in the weight throw at the 2024 United East Indoor Track and Field Championships.

  • Track Athlete of the Week

    Michael Wade / Sr / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Woodstock, Md. / Marriotts Ridge HS

    Michael Wade was the first D3 runner to cross the finish line in the 3000m at the Alvernia Winter Invite, finishing second (out of 16) in 9:26.95 (9:20.43 converted) behind D2 runner from Kutztown. Wade also came in 12th (out of 43) in the mile in 4:39.85 (4:36.33 converted). With the times that he clocked this past weekend, Wade owns the conference-best times in both the mile and 3000m. He also ranks 28th in the Mid-Atlantic region with his performance in the mile. 

    This is the first indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Wade, who was the gold medal winner in the 3000m and 5000m and had a fourth-place finish in the 1 Mile Run at the 2024 United East Indoor Track and Field Championships.

     

    Field Athlete of the Week

    Zack Kralec / Jr / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Monkton, Md. / Hereford HS

    Zack Kralec came in second (out of 21) in the pole vault at the Alvernia Winter Invite with a height of 4.30m.  Kralec is the current leader in the pole vault with a top mark of 4.32m, posted on January 10, 2025, at the Spartan Invitational.

    This is the third indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Kralec, who previously won for the weeks of January 25, 2024, and January 16, 2024.  Kralec won the silver medal in the pole vault at the 2024 United East Indoor Track and Field Championships.
