United East Athletes of the Week - February 18, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for February 18, 2025.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field. 

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, February 10 through Sunday, February 16. A total of 4 student athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Track Athlete of the Week

    Nicholas Haylock / Jr / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Odenton, Md. / Meade HS / Howard CC

    Nicholas Haylock recorded a personal best at the Susquehanna Invite. Haylock finished 16th in the 400m with a PR of 53.77 (52.93 converted), which ranks fifth in the United East. He also took 35th in the 200m in 24.59.

    This is the second Athlete of the Week award for Haylock, who previously won for the week of December 10, 2024.

     

    Field Athlete of the Week

    Tony Pelino / Sr / Penn State Harrisburg / Newport, Pa. / Newport HS

    Tony Pelino was Penn State Harrisburg's standout performer at the SU Invite hosted by Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon, as the pole vaulter won his event, set a new PR and matched the program's record with a top attempt that cleared 4.50 meters - a mark good enough to rank third in Division III's Mid-Atlantic Region. 

    This is the first Athlete of the Week award for Pelino, and first for Penn State Harrisburg in men’s indoor track and field.

     

  • Track Athlete of the Week

    Ella Mitchell / FY / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Baltimore, Md. / The Bryn Mawr School

    Ella Mitchell placed 13th in the 3000m at the Susquehanna Invite with a personal best time of 11:54.25, which ranks third in the United East.

    This is the first Athlete of the Week award for Mitchell.

    Field Athlete of the Week

    Jillian Zukley / FY / St. Mary’s College of Maryland / Severna Park, Md. / Severna Park HS

    Jillian Zukley qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships in the shot put following her performance at the Susquehanna Invite. Zukley took second in the shot put with a school record and personal-best distance of 12.09m, which ranks second in the United East and fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region. She also came in 11th in the weight throw with 13.17m.

    This is the fourth indoor track and field Athlete of the Week award for Zukley, who previously won for the weeks of February 4, 2025, January 21, 2025, and January 16, 2024.  Zukley was a silver medal winner in the shot put and a seventh-place finish in the weight throw at the 2024 United East Indoor Track and Field Championships.
